Rated 3 out of 5 by from The 4-Port USB 2.0 Aluminum Hub for X-Ray sensor It works really well in the first couple months. Then It lost connection from the USB to desktop sometimes. Our dental office used this port to connect digital sensor and intra-oral camera to desktop. After about 8 or 10 months we got the message USB connection disconnect in the middle of taking X-Ray or picture. We then took the sensor out of the port to connect directly to desktop. It worked fine. That's only problem we have been encountered in last 5 years.

The Max drain off each port is 500ma. The previous was answered without the knowledge of the correct power adapter.

I think I've answered my question about the different replies to the questions about power drain. The power cube for this hub has the max drain cited as 2.5 ma. Does that means 625 ma max per port? Is the current limitation per hub or for the whole device? That is, running off the power cube, can one draw more than 626 ma off one port if nothing's hanging off the other ports? (I'd not drive the hub that hard, but it's nice to know how it's supposed to work.) Thanks for your help!
Asked by: edo
The 4 port HUB has a 2.5amp power adapter. This will provide 500ma of power to each port. When a single device is connected you will still only get 500ma on that port. Unfortunately you can not draw more than 500ma off of a single port.

I've read accounts of some iPhone users having issues attempting to charge their iPhones from external hubs that only supply 500mA since they attempt to pull through over 1000mA. Can you confirm if this is or isn't an issue with this particular hub so I'll know if I can connect my iPhone to it before I make my purchase?

Hello, will this hub power external hard drives that would normaly be powered by the computer's USB port?

Asked by: Craig
Yes. It does work best when using the external power adapter for the USB hub so each port receives the full 500mA.
