Product Description

The C2G HDMI Audio De-Embedder will split the audio from HDMI video and convert it to Toslink, Digital RCA, or a 3.5mm Stereo Audio signal to support an audio system that is separate from the display. The de-embedder will allow HDMI video to continue to the television or monitor while supplying audio to an audio system near the HDMI source.

This device is ideal for projector installations where the projector does not provide an audio output and the system design calls for the use of an amplified audio reinforcement system. The HDMI Audio De-Embedder provides the means to separate the audio from the HDMI signal and provide that audio to the amplifier. Setup is easy with minimal configuration time. Simply connect the HDMI and audio cables and power on the system.

The HDMI Audio De-Embedder features two audio modes, A and B. When set to Mode A, the de-embedder will allow EDID signals to pass-through between source and display which will automatically set the audio output to the best common digital audio performance level. When set to Mode B, the de-embedder allows the digital audio output of the source to be set independently of the capabilities of the display. In both Modes, A and B, the digital audio must be output through the Toslink or RCA port of the de-embedder. The 3.5mm output of the de-embedder requires that the source be set to the PCM audio mode.

Note: Digital signals, such as Dolby Digital and DTS audio, from the source device are supported through the Toslink and Digital RCA port. The 3.5mm port supports PCM audio signals from the source device. The source device must be set to a PCM audio mode to use the 3.5mm audio output.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product Outdoor Home Theater, pulling audio off Comcast HD adapter to 3.5 Soundbar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product worked flawlessly required no programming of any such. I have not used the digital audio output only the analog. Only thing to know is that it does not take the audio out of the HDMI stream. It merely provides an analog/digital version of the HDMI audio. I used this in a TV install where I fed video and audio into this device. I sent analog audio to the mixing console, and sent the video to a Trulink HDMI over coax system to feed the TV. Worked great.

If I understand this De-Embedder correctly, it takes the audio portion from an incoming HDMI signal and sends the audio to either coax out, toslink out or the 3.5mm stereo out. My assumption is the video portion of the signal is sent to the HDMI out for viewing on a TV or monitor. Is that correct? If so, will there be any syncing issues between the audio and video? Thanks in advance
Asked by: jorge
That is correct that the video is still sent to the TV. There should be be any issue with the audio syncing with the video signal.

If my HDMI source is 5.1 channel LPCM what gets sent to the 3.5mm out port? Will this device take all 6 channels and combined them into a single mix and output via the 3.5mm port of will I only get the left and right channel and lose the center, sub, and surround channels? Also, does the HDMI port pass through both video AND audio?
Asked by: YourChagrin
In order to output audio to the 3.5mm port you must set the HDMI audio source to PCM and it will output loss less 2 channel audio.

I need to get rid of the sound on the hdmi signal coming into the unit. Will the unit export only the video and drop the audio? So I want the audio and video coming in through hdmi and only video coming out of the hdmi out port. Does it do that? I understand that it essentially extracts the audio and sends it to the audio out. I don't need that. All I want to do is get rid of the audio signal all together on the hdmi out. Is this the unit to do that or do you have something else that will cancel out the audio part of an hdmi signal?
Asked by: Anonymous
This will not eliminate the sound. This will pass the sound through the HDMI as well.
