You could replace a Cat6 patch cable to replace a Cat5e cable. Cat6 cables are capable of supporting higher speeds but the connectors are the same size as the Cat5e cable.

does this cable supports Poe (power over ethernet) when connected to a fast ethernet switch? thanks for your help martin

Yes. This will work with the POE the same as our standard Cat6 cable would. The only difference is the cable was built in a country that the US Government designated and approved for the Trade Agreement Act (TAA). This particular cable, for example, was manufactured in Taiwan which is one of the 140 countries that the US recognizes as TAA compliant.
