Didn't work
Bought it and tried to make it work to no avail. Instruction manual is incomplete and no support. Maybe my HD is damaged or not but surely I couldn't access my HD no matter how many times I tried and rechecked

Did the job
I needed to recover some files from a laptop hard drive whose battery wouldn't charge and found some instructions on how to use this cable to plug it into a desktop PC. It did the job and for a good price.

Didn't Work For Me
Don't know if it works or not. RMA'd the drive. The Adaptor got real hot, didn't want to take a chance on frying new drive. Never worked for me.

Works well
It works well, for what little it does. It holds on very tightly to the pons, though, so taking it off might damage some if you're not careful.

worked like a charm
I bought this cable to troubleshoot and save data on a laptop hard drive via hopefully plugging it in to a desktop. Once you figure out how to set the laptop hard drive to be a slave drive, this cable permitted viewing the drive perfectly! Just added a drive letter and was good to go. Copied all the crucial files over to a backup drive, then ran diagnostics on the drive to repair it. Could not have done it without this cable; super product!

Works for me! :)
I got one of those IDE/SATA to USB adaptoid thingies, so i could plug many different hard drives in easily - hey, I'm a tech! (grin)
Then I found out there were two different pinouts on laptop hard drives. My thingy only had the standard 40-pin plug.
By using this adapter, I can now plug into >all< the types of laptop hard drives I've encountered. It's cheap, well made, and comes with a useful orientation warning.

Did the trick
Basically I needed this cable as a way to connect laptop HDD's to my computer so that I could either test them, or to retreive data from broken down HDD's. Some of the origional USB converters that came with them wouldn't work, so I had to try another way. So far, I have recovered 30 TB's worth of information from a multiple HDD's. Very glad to have this now.

Fast and Simple
The motherboard on my laptop had died, and I didn't back up the information on it. Without this adapter I would have lost all my documents, music, and the wedding videos I never finished compiling. Or at least I would have had to pay someone a couple hundred to move everything to discs. Now it is an extra hard drive for my desktop PC, and everything is safe.

Just what I needed.
This is just what I needed to recover data from a dying laptop drive. The machine itself wasn't getting power so I had to remove the drive and rescue the data with my PC. The laptop hard drive adapter was the perfect solution! Thank you for such a great product. I'll be purchasing cabling products from you again in the future!

Great cable!
I used this cable to recover data from the hard drive of a dead laptop. I just plugged one end of the adapter right into the HDD,and attached an IDE cable to the other side, then plugged the IDE cable into my PC. I then recovered all of my valuable data from the laptop HD. This adapter was a lifesaver.

Notebook fix for a Weibetech Dock
This was the best solution to mounting a PC laptop drive through a dock. Initially I didn't know that an IDE laptop drive was the same pin pattern as standard IDE/ATA but the centers were closer together. This adaptor can be used to get a laptop drive installed on a tower as well

Works as expected
I used the cable connector to hook a laptop hard drive to a desktop IDE connector. I had to transfer files from the laptop Hard Drive for backup purposes. The laptop wouldn't boot, and was to be sent in for repairs.
The cable worked as it was designed to, perfectly.

Every Tech Needs One Of These
Very useful device. Enables me to plug the HDDs from laptops into a desktop for fast & easy backups or image making or image restoration. Works with every 2.5" drive I've encountered.
This adapter is IMO a tech's tool - not something for regular users.

Works as advertised
Mind the power cable. It can slip off and is not keyed. Also, you may have to configure (add, move, or remove jumpers) your notebook drive to be a slave (I had to).
