Perfect for situations where two HDMI devices must share a single HDMI input on a display, this HDMI auto switch provides for hassle free operation. The power required for operation of this switch is provided from the HDMI source devices, so no separate power adapter is required*. With the wealth of devices now using HDMI, it is easy to run out of free HDMI inputs on an HDTV or home theater receiver. This HDMI selector switch solves the problem by providing additional high-definition digital inputs for sources including Blu-ray™ and DVD players, gaming systems, and high-definition cable/satellite boxes.

The auto switching functionality provides for a system that is easy to use, while manual switching functionality is available for situations where more control is desired. The auto switching feature is able to sense when a new device is connected or powered on and will automatically switch to that port. When the device is disconnected or powered off, then this feature automatically switches to the first connected device. In situations where two devices are connected to the switch and powered on, or sending an HDMI signal to the switch, the Select button on the top of the switch may be used to switch back and forth between the two inputs.

Please note: Most HDMI source devices are able to provide the necessary power for the operation of the HDMI switch; however, in some situations the power supply of the HDMI source device is insufficient and additional power is required. In those situations, power for the HDMI switch may be supplied using C2G's HDMI Voltage Inserter (CG42223) or USB Powered HDMI Voltage Inserter (CG42236).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HDMI Switch saves fumbling with cables Added the switch so I did not have to manually change inputs everytime. This is seemless, plug in both inputs and push a botton on the switch to change from one to the other.

Questions & Answers

I purchased this switch earlier this year, however it doesn't switch automatically to my Apple TV when turned on, I have to switch it manually. Any suggestions? It works fine for my blu-ray.

Asked by: Bill
Utilizing a power inserter with the switch will solve this issue. Use our part number 42223

Which power supply can I use with this ?.... manual sates any 5v power supply but most for switches and routers will not fit this unit

Asked by: MarkM
This device is usually powered by the power from the HDMI bus of the source device. If the HDMI bus does not provide enough power then we suggest using our part 42223. It is an HDMI Voltage inserter.

Can I use it to connect two monitors to a computer Dell because my computer only has one HDMI in put

Asked by: lusi
This device is designed to have 2 inputs and a single output. So it works if you have 2 PC's you need to switch between on a single display for example. You would need our part number 30547, this will create a extra HDMI output for your PC. The 30547 does require the installation of drivers.

Has anyone used this with a 50 foot or longer output cable? My current setup works fine when feeding straight off either computer but has signal strength issues when I connect my current HDMI switch. I should note that the current switch has a hidden specification (listed in the printed manual but nowhere else) of a 30 foot maximum distance. I'm looking for one which handles longer cables.
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately a cable with the length of 50ft or longer may need a booster to work on our switch.

When I plug a mac mini into the switcher the LED on that input blinks on and off and nothing is displayed. When I plug a laptop into the other input it then displays the mac mini on the display. After I disconnect and re-connect the laptop it then displays the laptop feed. What do I need to do to get the mac mini to display on it's own?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Mac is not powering the switch enough to project the image. We would recommend connecting our item number 42223. This connects to the mac and then the HDMI from our 42223 to the switch will keep the switch powered

Will this also switch the HDMI audio signal along with the video? My setup uses HDMI cables to carry both audio and video from sources to TV. Does ROKU Ultra have enough power to keep this unit powered?

This unit will carry both audio and video signals.

I have a Sony BDP-S3500 Blu Ray disc player and and Apple TV connected to this device. When the Blu Ray player is switched on the device switches to it, however, after about 10 seconds the power to this device switches back to Apple TV and my signal is lost. If I turn off or disconnect the Apple TV, power from the Blu Ray player switches on and off in a 5 or 10 second cycle. is the Sony BDP-S3500 compatible with this device?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes however your Apple TV may be sending a signal causing the switch to move back to the. I would recommend out part number 42223 in order to help with the HDMI power for the switch.

When using this with two laptops running "dual screen - extended monitor" connecting to a HDMI projector, will the computer that is not broadcasting be disconnected. I have found that when using my laptop to broadcast dual screen via HDMI that my second screen turns off completely (all items in presentation in second screen are moved to main screen) when not in use.
Asked by: Cort
This is a Display Setting inside the Laptop that will cause the second monitor to turn off.

If this is plugged into a laptop, does it allow for two monitors to act with Extended Display or will this just mirror the screen of the source laptop?

Asked by: Planets35
This product will not mirror or extend, rather it will switch between sources (x2) to a single output. It is meant to connect multiple devices to a single display and automatically switch between them.
