My application was to be able to run two computers using one switchable Keyboard. Unfortunately I didn't realize that one of the computers couldn't use the keyboard that the other one used even though they were both Dell Computers, so the A/B Switch and the adapter I bought were all for nought.

Can I use this on my old Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop with XP? There is no PS/2 port, only USB, but I would like to use my PS/2 mouse.

No. That adapter would connect a USB mouse to a PS/2 port on a computer. You would need an adapter like 32185. It has 2 PS/2 ports but you could just use one to connect that mouse to a USB port on a computer.

Driver for Win 7. Adapter is not recognized by Win 7

This is a passive adapter and relies on the drivers of your device. Your device may be unable to convert directly. The adapter only functions with items that are compatible with both USB and PS/2 signal types.
