I bought 60 of these all metal adapters for my school because other reviews said they were better than the plastic ones. But some of them don't work unless you rotate the 1/4 inch male end until you find a spot that works. I am in the process of testing all 60 to see which ones I should return. The 1/4 inch male ends work fine with the cheap plastic adapters I already have, so the problem must be with the metal adapters.
