LANtest Network/Modular Cable Test Kit

#13138
Read actual wiring configuration and find most cable faults for Cat5, coaxial and modular telephone cables; works up to 200 meters.

Product Description

Test cable installations up to 200 meters (656 feet). The simplest and most affordable wire-mapping device for networking cables available on the market. Use it to read the actual wiring configuration for Cat5, coaxial and modular telephone cables by comparing one transmitting end to another receiving end. Easy verification for cabling faults including discontinuity, open wires, shorts, miswiring and crossed pairs is quickly detected with the LANtest's unique LED display. Can also test the grounding. Perform all the above tests on installed cables with the included remote terminator.

Tests the correct pin configuration of 10Base-T, 10Base-2, Thin ethernet cable, RJ45/RJ11 modular cables 356A, TIA-568A/568B and Token Ring cable, etc. With the remote kit, LANtest can remotely test cable up to 1000 feet away either on the wall plate or the patch panel. Includes an auto or manual scan for pinout indicators, and a power switch for saving battery power.

Comments about LANtest Network/Modular Cable Test Kit:

This tester, when using the remote unit, does not tell you on the main unit if there is continuity to the remote unit. You have to physically see the remote unit to verify continuity.

    Pros

      Cons

      • Not good for testing live
      • Spend more for upgrade

      Best Uses

      • Less than 5 connections

Comments about LANtest Network/Modular Cable Test Kit:

The tester is easy to use but you can not use on live wires. Lan wire connections that run throughout a building need to have a tester that can handle live testing. Great for 5 or less wires in a system.

Very practical for the everyday wiring. With the 8 LED pair display is evident at a glance if there are no connectivity, shorts, reversed pairs or any other pinout issue.

              A:

No, this tester will not tell you the length of the cable being tested. We do have testers that do measure length like 39002.
