C2G's commitment to being good teammates and citizens is not just internal. As an organization, we are also involved in the communities in which we work and live and drive to be a positive influence on those communities. Each facility decides which local causes to support and community outreach truly becomes a team effort. Below are just a few of the endeavors C2G has undertaken to ensure we are good stewards to our communities.
These are just a few of the ways that C2G is involved in our local communities:
2006 marked the first year of C2G's participation in the America Heart Association's Greater Dayton Heart Walk with C2G Founder Mike Shane serving as the Chairperson for the Walk. In 2007, Mike again was the local chairperson for the 2007 American Heart Association's Great Dayton Heart Walk. This 5k run/walk was a fundraiser for Dayton's local chapter and C2G had over 60 participants and hundreds of financial contributors. Funds from the walk went to research and develop of new treatments for heart disease that are less invasive and can improve quality of life for patients affected by heart disease.
A Feast of Giving is a community event held on Thanksgiving each year in Dayton that's not only looking to help those in need…we are reaching out to bring our entire community together. Last year, C2G and more than 400 volunteers from around Dayton served meals to over 4,700 people! As a presenting sponsor of the event, C2G and its employees have been able to spend several hours on Thanksgiving Day each year giving back to our community.
C2G's One To Many Outreach program started as a grassroots effort to support local charities. The idea is simple: choose a local charity each quarter, invite associates to participate in a pot-luck luncheon where they pay to eat, and donate all of the proceeds to the charities. During the lunch, representatives from the local charities are invited to share information with our associates about their charities and provide ways for associates to get involved. C2G matches all proceeds that the associate base contributes with 25% of all proceeds being used for our “Adopt A Family” holiday program which provides support to local families with financial need.
C2G's employees had a long standing relationship with Moraine Meadows Elementary School. Many of our associates were very active in tutoring, Family Movie Night and helping to make families' Holiday Celebrations a little bit brighter. Our adopted little school was closed due to budget constraints, so we followed the children to their new home at Southdale Elementary. It is located a few miles in the opposite direction and part of Kettering City Schools. We continue to enjoy the strong relationship we established 5 years ago with our new school.
Welcome Home Soldier, a non–profit organization dedicated to honoring those who serve or have served our country's military, decided to construct a memorial just outside of our facility in Albia, IA. The sacrifice our men and women in the military is admired and appreciated by our associates. To support this initiative, we created a raffle where all proceeds went to the Memorial. The effort generated a sizable donation that went to construction costs for the Memorial.
