Use this adapter cable to connect your inkjet, laser or high speed printer to a computer without a parallel port. Forget the hassles of IRQ sharing by adapting your printer to USB. If you have multiple printers, you can eliminate the need for a switchbox by connecting each printer to a USB port.

The device is fully transparent to the user and is ideal for true bi-directional communication. This adapter auto-negotiates hardware recognition for faster protocol setup, and is fully plug-and-play compatible. This adapter cable is a perfect accessory for Microsoft® Surface® products and other leading laptops.

Note: This adapter is designed for use with a standard Parallel printer and is not designed to support multi-function printers or other parallel devices. This adapter uses the USB Printing Support function of the operating system and is not designed to create a LPT port.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Perfect Match To My Old Laser Printer My inkjet printer was breaking my budget. I had an old, but reliable HP Laserjet 5L sitting idle because all my computers are now USB ported. I purchased your #16899 USB to Parallel adapter, and followed the installation instructions for Windows XP. Checked the Control Panel for installed printers and there was my 5L, ready to print. I printed a Word document and a Xcel document. Flawless! Thanks for an excellent solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved me buying a new printer! Yippee! After my computer crashed, I bought a new one and realized after I got it home that the there was no computer port that matched my old HP printer which still runs perfectly. After HP phone support telling me my only remedy was to buy a new printer, and after purchasing two other cables that fit my connections but wouldn't install drivers because my printer is also a scanner, and after 2 months of messing around with no printer, I tried this cable with low expectations. Voila! it worked exactly as described! Yippee!!! Believe or not, I rarely use exclamation points but I am so happy that I don't have to buy a new printer, I'm splashing them all over the place. One thing to know: follow the easy device installation instructions in the little blue book that comes with the cable and you will have no problems. Just plugging it in (as in "plug and play") doesn't work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Informative Despite the informative headline the device did not work with a HP laser jet 4 and an HP laptop with Vista Home Premium. When I called your tech service all he could offer was an RMA Number. Is this such an odd application? I would think that you would have known what to dol.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Problem Solved I had a problem getting 2 older printers with centronics connectors, to work though the USB port on my laptop. I tried the standard USB to Centronics cable, but I could not get any of them to work. I ordered this USB to DB25 cable and used it with the old style printer cable and it worked. From what I understand only a few of the older printers have the problem, this cable solved it for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 6ft USB to DB25 IEEE-1284 Parallel Print The cable is used to connect an older but dependable HP printer to a mixed network of Macs and XP machines. It worked with a plugin and a reboot on most machines. Some additional instructions re: making the cable function in the Mac environment would have helped, but some experimentation revealed the proper settings. All in all, a good purchase and a helpful tool. Thank you.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what it's portrayed to be! Needed to connect HP LaserJet 6MP printer to new computer w/Windows 7. Installed the cable, but can only print very basic documents like Word. Unable to print a .pdf file that I was able to print using my old computer. Have doubts this provides bi-directional capability as described. In fact, install sheet says to make sure enable bi-directional support is unchecked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brings the LaserJet 4L back to life I bought a new HP desktop with Windows 7 and Office 2010. The desktop only has USB ports for connecting printers. The guy at Staples told me my Laserjet 4L would not work and was obsolete. This cable, and most importantly the instructions that came with the cable, made the 4L work like a charm. It's important to follow the included instructions for software settings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Adapter Cable! This adapter has been the perfect solution to connect our legacy thermal ticket printers with parallel interfaces, to new PCs that only have USB ports. Just connect the printer and plug the USB connector to the PC, and you're all set. No software drivers are needed. And you can't beat the cost, versus having to buy new ticket printers with USB connectivity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Attaches old printer to new PC This is a cable I desparately needed, and could find no where else. Attaches an old style 25 pin printer to any modern computer USB port. Thus, my 20 year old 'workhorse' printer (HP LaserJet 6P) can be kept in service, and I can continue to get great quality printing at a very low per page cost. Thanks to CablesToGo for stocking this hard to find cable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed I need to print material selectively in small quantity. So I just attach the cable to the printer (6 feet away) and go. My printer is older, a bit temperamental (sometimes I need to re-boot to wake it up), but with the cable all that becomes trivial. I (not an expert) was able to identify what I needed from the web-page. In my case that is a first! Cheers

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, easy way to hook up old printer I needed to hook up my old LaserJet 6L because I'm sick of replacing Epson ink cartridges every two weeks. This cable allowed me to easily plug my old parallel port cable into the adapter cable, and then into my computer's usb port. I then downloaded the printer drivers and was off to the races in no time. I could not be more pleased with this cable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great purchase! I love my HP Laserjet 4P, but I didn't think I could continue to use it, as I am reading about a lot of compatibility problems with various adapter cables and Windows 7. But, I crossed my fingers and ordered this cable hoping for the best. Hooked up the printer and voila! Had the printer running in 2 minutes, no problem. Outstanding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Perfect Answer To My Problem Bought a new desktop computer. Had no connection for my old printer. Cables to Go had the ideal cable for hooking my printer to the computer USB port. I was very happy with the service and treatment they gave me when asking about a cable that would work. If you have a cable problem, these are the people to talk to. Wonderful!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from DOS app only prints to LPT1 I am running an old dos app that only has the option to print to LPT1. I changed out the computer and there was no LPT1 port so I thought I would try this cable. I could not get it to print to LPT1. If you are just looking for a way to make an old printer work, this will do the trick. It just doesn't work for my needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the task at hand In purchasing a new desktop, the printer connection required the use of a USB port. My older, yet reliable, laser jet printer utilized a parallel cable. So to still use my reliable printer, I had to go from parallel to USB. The 6' USB to DB25 IEEE-1284 Printer Cable by Cables To Go was perfect for the task at hand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A surprisingly great product. My H/P laserjet 1100 had no USB port. When we changed computers there was no printer port. I was sure i would have to give up the 1100. I just plugged this cable into the printer cable's DB 25 connector and rebooted. My laserjet 1100 was back in service. Amazing. I plan to buy one for my home Laserjet 1100.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Yay! My printer's back! I had to get an adapter to connect my new Dell with a 2002 HP printer. The adapter's long cord made it easy for me to hook them up, and I no longer have to stretch my loose printer cable. I had to reinstall the printer, but the Dell did most of the work. I'm very happy that it arrived in only 2 days too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Solution I was afraid I would have to give up my printer since my new laptop doesn't have a parallel port. Thank goodness your company had the perfect solution. We have since bought 3 more for some of our other users. I just want to say "Thank you" for the perfect part. Now I don't have to give up my printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very well satisfied This adapter worked just as I had hoped; enabling me to connect my old HP Laserjet (which we still love) to my new desktop which has no parallel printer ports but has plenty of USB inputs. No previous experience with Cables to go, but would certainly recommend them based on this item. thanks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great! Used this cable to connect old HP5 printer to new Windows 7 computer, worked immediately after Windows downloaded driver. My only complaint is that it makes an already slow printer take even longer to print but it is not a primary printer in our office (set up just for the bosses use).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product Caution installation This is a saver on laptops and workstations now being sold without Parallel ports. Connect to printer, turn on printer, connect only then to USB port and machine will find it as USB0001 then add printer... This is from my recollection as I had to read instructions. Manual poor

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Printer Cable I ordered this adapter cable, received it in a couple of days and connected it to my printer and computer. Piece of cake. Haven't used it long enough to comment on durability, reliability, connection points. I'm happy I was able to find a cord to go with an older printer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Problem booting up Need an LPT port as the HP 4000 SFF does not have one for a label printer. Plugged it in, configured printer, worked. Rebooted, PC will not boot until USB is unplugged. Set boot order for usb to be last, no good. Disabled usb for boot, still no good. Win7 32bit OS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Worked Great It worked great in connecting the parallel port on my printer to the USB port on my laptop. I was also hoping it would work connecting a floppy drive parallel port to my computer but it did not. It's possible I don't have the proper drivers in my computer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works great I had problem trying to use a USB to centronics printer cable. I understand only a few of the older printers have this problem. This one worked right away no problems, just attach your old printer cable to the DB25 connector and you are set to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Parallel to USB Cable Use this cable to connect to an old laser printer to a new computer that, like all systems these days, no longer is configured with a parallel adapter. About the same price as an adapter, but much easier to install and get the printer connected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works fine, just plug and go We had a laser printer with a parrellel adapter but new computers with no parrellel ports. The laser printer works fine and cost over 1000 when we got it. The cable adapter saved us from loosing our laser printer. Very cost effective solution

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Printing again! I had an old inkjet printer with a parallel port cable. I have a new laptop without the parallel port, but has USB ports. This adapter makes it all work, and quite nicely I might add. I haven't noticed any problems yet, and hope not to.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Didn't get what I hoped for. I used it to connect my new laptop to an old HP laser printer. I get it working and the next time I turn the computer on it won't work. I have to re-install the printer software to make it work again. Still working on straightening it out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Perfectly!! When we changed to a new type of laptop, I was afraid I'd lose my printer because it wasn't USB compatible. Thank goodness I found the adapter on your site. I have recommended your site to other users in my company. Thanks very much, jane
