Most high-definition audio/video components utilize the HDMI interface to provide crystal clear, digital sound and picture. With the wealth of devices now using HDMI, it's easy to run out of free HDMI inputs on your TV set or receiver. This HDMI selector switch solves the problem by providing additional high-definition digital inputs for sources including DVD player, Blu-ray™, Disc and HD-DVD players, gaming systems, and high-definition cable/satellite boxes.

This HDMI selector offers three rear inputs plus a convenient front input for temporary connection of gaming systems or HD camcorders and cameras. Fully compatible with HDCP-enabled sources. Blue front panel LEDs display the HDMI source currently selected.

Reviews

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Better than described This product can be a little annoying. Each time I turn on my TV, this product seems to turn off and turn back on causing a an extra delay in the picture to come on the TV. I use DIRECTV and there are times when I am trying to watch a recorded show on my DVR that the switch causes my screen to go black momentarily and I have to wait for it to reset before I can get to the right place to watch the show I have recorded; sometimes this happens a couple of times before I can get to the show.

Questions & Answers

Will this device autoswitch to the device that is on or in other words will one port over ride the others or is all switching done manually?

Asked by: Steve
It is only switchable manually. The switching occurs in a round robin manner to all ports ntil you reach the desired input port.

Will this work with a hdmi splitter? Example- computer, ps3, directv all have splitters. Will this switcher work with an input from said splitter? The splitters work with two outputs.

Asked by: JG
While this work with a splitter, I would not recommend it. Having an additional layer in your system could create issues. I would recommend a matrix switch that can handle multiple inputs and outputs in one device.

does a remote come with this switch enabling me to change the input selection? If so can the switch be left with the video components in a separate room and the remote be used in the room with the TV? I have A10 PowerMID transmitter and receivers throughout my house that enables me to control my video equipment from a different room.
Asked by: Gary
Yes. This is an IR remote that comes with the HDMI switch. If you have an existing IR repeater system, you should be able to extend the remote range with our switch.

What about the remote? Is it RF or IR, is the unit capable of operating with a contact closure to select the desired input?

Asked by: Ed
The remote is IR. If you are putting the switch in an enclosure, you would need to use an IR repeater like our part #40430.
