Rated 5 out of 5 by from My gamble paid off I had a commercial installation with 7 meeting rooms, each with a USB-based web camera. There were to be two connection points in each room where users could connect a laptop to the camera (not at the same time). I used this device as well as the C2G 53878 USB extenders to make it all work. It auto-senses the connected laptop and switches every time. My client is very pleased, and so am I. I have also tested this with an "intelligent interactive touch-sensitive annotation display" with good results as well. This is one versatile tool that will be in many more future quotes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product. Easy to setup and Easy to use. Simple instructions and setup. We installed 1 switch in each of our 15 stores. Every installation went well with no issues or glitches. Installed on both Windows 7 and Windows 10 machines (mixed) with no problem. Dirt simple operation, even our most technically challenged operators easily grasped the concept of it's operation. Tried an automatic switch from a different vendor and it never worked properly. This switch works!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Have purchased 4 of these over the past few years They work every time. Sometimes when I switch computers, they switch automatically, but usually I have to do it manually. Since I am not dead yet, that is not a problem. Besides, they are advertised as a manual switch.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Compatible With Windows 7 I missed the part in the specs that listed all Windows versions except Vista and 7, so that isn't the fault of the device. I need to share one monitor, keyboard and mouse with two computers. I connected 2 computers to a single usb hub with the keyboard and mouse (monitor already has dual computer support.) If both computers were running XP, (or support for Windows 7 were added) this would be the perfect solution. As long as you aren't running Windows 7 on either computer, I'd certainly recommend this device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Simple to set up and use. C2G was the only place I could find it. Saved me from going a more expensive route.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from USB 2 port switch avoids frustration This USB 2 port switch has made printing from our 2 computers much easier. I have a router connected between our 2 computers that permits us to share files, but only one computer was directly connected to the printer. Up until recently I could print from either computer by going through the router. However, since we purchased a new computer and now have Vista on one computer and XP on the other, I can't get the printer sharing to work correctly. I never did like having to have both computers powered up to print from one. The USB 2 port switch has made printing from either computer much simpler, I have the printer software in both computers and I can print from either one without powering the other. The USB switch was trivial to hook up, it is small and doesn't take up hardly any desk space as is seen in the picture.

Can this switch be used to have one keyboard control one computer, then switch to control another computer? Is there a manual switch on the device?

Asked by: Video Will
The only way to share a keyboard would be the manual button on top of the switch.

Do you think I could use the product in the following way? I want to be able to switch in or out a USB Headset (manually). The USB Headset has a type A male plug and the computer has a standard female USB A type receptacle. Reason for this use is essentially to be able to remove my headset without unplugging it. Is there a better suited product in you lineup? I basically want a single port type A on off switch?
Asked by: Anonymous
This switch should work in the way you want it to. This way you can select the B computer on the switch when you want the headset disconnected.

two questions: 1) is any software installation required? 2) any reason it wouldn't work with a PC and a MAC trying to share a printer?

Asked by: Bernard
There is no software installation required. The 30505 will work between a PC and a Mac but you must use the push button on top to switch between computers. The switch does have hotkeys to switch between computers but the hotkeys are only supported with the Windows OS.
