Product Description
The Short Range HDMI over Cat5 Extender kit is an ideal solution for extending HDMI audio/video signals beyond the typical 50 foot length limitation of a HDMI cable. This solution is able to extend HDMI up to 160 feet and requires the use of two Cat5 patch cables. Auto equalization makes installation easy regardless of the length of the Cat5 patch cables used. Simply make the HDMI and Cat5 cable connections and the transmitter and receiver will automatically adjust to optimize the video for the length of cable used. EDID pass through is supported to ensure that content is sent at the optimal resolution for the display. HDCP is supported, allowing protected content to be passed through this extension solution. The maximum resolution supported will vary depending upon the type and length of the Cat5 patch cable.
Note: This solution includes one power adapter which must be connected to the receiver for proper operation. The transmitter is designed to draw power from the HDMI source device. Some HDMI source devices are unable to output the power required for the transmitter to function which results in no image being displayed. In those instances, an HDMI Voltage Inserter (42223 or 42236) may be required.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MT from It is a good unit. Just be careful for the rangeIt is a nice compact unit does the job. However, if you extend the range over 160ft or close to it, the connection will be there but the display will not show. it is best to be used in a small size environment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Video from Cat5 to HDMIPlug and play for Cat5 to HDMI. Replaced another set that finally went bad that also needed a separate amplifier. No amplifier needed with this set.
Why does it need 2 ethernet cable connections in parallel?? Most other kits HDMI extender kits only uses 1 cable, such as product #60180. Is this product PoE compatible?

Do you have to have the Tx and Rx cat5 connected directly or can you have a switch/router between the 2 devices? If Yes, does the switch need to a POE?
Asked by: Jeff
The TX and RX for this device have to be connected directly together.
