Product Description

HDMI over Cat allows HDMI audio/video signals to be extended over a single Cat5e, Cat6 or Cat6a cable up to 230ft at a 4K resolution. This solution is compatible with any operating system and is truly plug and play with no drivers or software required. The transmitter and receiver are available in either a wall plate or box form factor and are interoperable allowing this solution to meet the needs of the installation environment. In addition, this solution utilizes TruChoice™ power, which allows power to be supplied over the Cat cable to both the transmitter and receiver from a single power adapter placed at either the transmitter or the receiver end of the solution. HDBaseT technology supports HDCP and allows the Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) signals, i.e. communication of the display‚Äôs capabilities, to pass through the extension solution ensuring that the content from the source is sent at the optimal resolution for the display. Built-in power surge protection and high ground loop immunity ensure high performance signal extension.

Note: Stranded Cat5e/6/6a patch cables may be used for HDMI extension applications up to 230ft. Shielded, solid conductor Cat6 or HDBaseT Certified Cat6a network cabling is recommended for applications where the category cable must be coiled, is run near other high-frequency signaling cables, or in high EMI/RFI environments. For best performance use a Cat6 Solid Shielded Patch Cable or an HDBaseT Certified Cat6a Patch Cable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long Distance HDMI ... YES! I use the TruLink HDMI over Cat5 Receiver (#29269) to extend a video signal from a church server (Win7 Pro) on the 2nd floor, to a 70" Visio TV in the 1st floor lobby (~75 feet). This provides a large, clear and eye catching display to greet people at our main entry and share information (a looping PowerPoint presentation) on classes, upcoming events, etc. The device capabilities are well beyond what I need now, but I am frequently asked to change things in the environment and the added distance provides the flexibility I need available. Besides, my research showed comparable cost for other products that have less capability. I paired the (#29269) receiver with the TruLink HDMI over Cat5 Transmitter (#29241). It really is a simple plug-and-play device. I ran a single Cat5e cable and connected it and HDMI cables at each end. The signal came online immediately. I just set the monitor resolution as high as possible and cloned the monitor output to the TV. The video was 100% perfect, with no adjustments necessary anywhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HDMI to 286 feet over Cat 6 The Electrician installed the Transmitter & Receiver using Cat 6 cable as he likes using Cat 6 cable. The cable went under ground in a conduit from the HDMI player through C2G Transmitter, to the C2G Receiver, then from the receiver HDMI, to the HDMI input on a 65 inch HDMI TV. The system was turned on and the quality was as if the player was connected directly with a 3 ft HDMI cable to the TV. The setup was truly plug & play. I was reluctant to purchase the C2G kit as I was afraid it would not work. Now I will buy more units as I have friends with similar needs. I am impressed how well it works and how small the C2G unit is. If you have a similar problem, this is the answer.

Is the power supply required for this product? I need an HDMI over CAT5 solution that will mount inside a single-gang box but does not require a power supply. Do you have something like this available? Thanks.

Asked by: Nate
This product requires a power supply at the transmitter or receiver end. We do not carry a product that will not need to be powered to send HDMI over Cat5.

Do you need to run 1 cat5/6 as well as a 16/2 for power?

Asked by: Anonymous
You would need the 1 Cat5e/6 cable. If you are powering the transmitter, you would need a separate 16/2 for power. The other option would be powering the receiver side. If the receiver is a box unit, you would not need to run a 16/2 cable because you could just plug in the power adapter into the box.
