Rated 5 out of 5 by from Device Installs and Performs Am using this device to connect between several networking hardware serial ports (a.k.a. "Console Management" connections) and a USB-only laptop running Vista and PuTTY. Can't say if this product would be suitable for ALL serial-to-USB applications ... ... but in THIS particular application, the device installed easily and w/o incident the first time; and has operated flawlessly since the first "connect" attempt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. I purchased this cable in order to connect to Cisco routers via Console port as my new computer at home and laptop at work did not have a Serial Port installed on it. I utilize it at home to practice with my Cisco 851W router and at work to configure the Cisco 2960/G switches in the infrastructure. It works great every time and connects just as it would if attached to a real serial port. I RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Serial Adapter Cable saved the day! We have an old Casio 'palm pilot' and docking station which was used to sync our business contacts from the Casio to the Computer. The computer died and we needed to be able to sync with our replacement laptop. The cable made the transition from the docking station to the laptop's connection seamless. Great product - with it we were able to transfer all our contacts to the new computer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good tool I needed a serial to usb adapter for configuring cisco routers. This product worked great, good instructions for install and configuration. My only hold back is they send a CD with the driver software, luckily I happen to have an older external drive, but it would be a lot easier if there was a link to download the driver. Otherwise good product. Recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Supports Full Handshaking One of its strongest features is the "prolific" driver it ships with. It suppports "full hardware handshaking" (which many other USB/Ser converters DON'T) as well as 7 bit data which is also sometimes a problem with other converters. This is the only one I use and it works in EVERY situation I've run across which has not been my experience with other converters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glad these are still available! Laptops/computers have all swung over to newer/faster USB format; however, there is still a need to connect to devices having the older style DB9 / 25 serial port connection. In my case, I needed to connect my new computers to an external Terminal Node Controller (TNC) for packet communications. These USB/DB9 serial adapters allow me to make the connections.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Other adapters did not work, C2G works! I needed to replace the adapter that went missing. Tried other brands. After multiple downloads and installations, could not get a connection to my controller. I was beginning to think my controller was the problem. C2G installed, loaded drivers, BINGO! Back in business. Now I can change controller settings again for my electric motorcycle. Thanx C2G.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic product..very reliable We use this product to connect lab equipment with serial ports to a laptop. This allows the equipment to communicate with the computer so data can be collected via our computer program. The only problem is I have to keep buying them, because they tend to walk off with visitors. This is the only brand I recommend to customers and colleagues.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not very good On two machines, Toshiba laptops, satellite, running xp and one running vista, installed new drivers and connected to a serial port. On xp it ran for about 1/2 hour then just stopped, (serial was verified with oscilloscope. On Vista driver claims to install but is not found in devices. Now I have to go find a usb to serial that works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little Cable I needed a adapter for a time clock at our business. The time clock had a serial interface and our new computer that was installed didn't come with one. This cable worked and is a steady work horse. My only complaint is if the computer isn't restarted every three months or so Windows gets confused with the port. Great overall product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Satisfied with Quality Before purchasing from Cabels to go I purchased cheap cables from two suppliers, but I ended up returning them all due to bad quality. I am quite satisfied with cables I got from Cablestogo because it looks good and works perfectly. I definatelly can use this cable with my equipments to do a demo infromt of a customer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works perfect I needed this connection cable for a door security program that is on my new laptop. The old laptop had a 9-prong serial port and I didn't need an external cable, the new laptop did not. I am very happy with this cable and it is very secure and holds tight when I carry the laptop all around the building coding doors.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 64 bit drivers cause BSOD Like someone else stated, the 64 bit drivers (version 3.0.2) are unreliable, they cause a blue screen of death with multiple-IRP_complete_requests error and this happens at 115.200 bps. The other user had the same problem at a slower speed. This problem makes the product unusable on 64 bit operating systems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Product Purchased the DB9 serial adapter to USB (#26886) and a 10 ft DB9 F/F extender cable (#52036). This connected an Amateur Radio transceiver (Yaesu FT-2000) and a Dell Inspiron 5100 Laptop. The installation was quick and, more importantly, successful. No problems were encountered. A wonderful product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Highly convenient I was skeptical to buy this product b\c many reviews stated the drivers didn't work with the 64 bit version of Windows 7, which is what i'm running on my laptop that I use to configure devices. Not sure why the drivers didn't work for others but it works on my 64 bit version of windows perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! Software installation went without a hitch. Windows assigned the USB port to COM3 and I was ready to go! The software that came with the my new Radio Shack 46-Range, PC Interface Digital Multimeter works exactly as it would if connected to a traditional COM port. I have no complaints at all!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Little Product I used this to tune an old shure DFR EQ fedback reducer with a serial port. Once I got the drivers installed (which you can download from the cables to go tech page) it worked great. It's a little short for that use since the port is in the back but I just used a usb extension and I was fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from USB Serial DB9 to USB I have a windows vista lap top, I was concerned if the vista would support the cable. I loaded the drivers from the included CD and presto it works great. Just what I needed it to do. So as we know the USB is the in thing, this cable will bring you up to par that works.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is awesome...no drivers needed. I used this to connect our liquid nitrogen dewar to a computer so that we can have automatic reading of the dewar. The connection made it easier without having to have the manufacturer of the dewar to redesign a new panel to connect the machine to a computer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great product if it would have worked I don't think the connector was the real culprit here. I was trying to download set parameters, from my Home A/V receiver, and I think the program version os very outdated. CablesToGo is a very fast effiecient company. Probably the best You will ever find.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as advertised I needed this adapter to program my Radio Shack PRO-2052 radio scanner and also to receive data from the scanner to the compute for live streaming of Alpha Tags to go with the audio stream. It does what I need to do and stands up to 24 hr continuous use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't ask for more. I needed a replacement for my DB9 that no longer works with the new Windows7 laptops. This USB to DB9 is the bomb. Loaded the drivers, stuck it in the USB port, connected to the Cisco console cable, and voila! It's a beautiful thing!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Will not work with VB6 and XP Will not work with Visual basic 6.0 and windows XP. Works fine from Hyper Terminal but locks up when used with a VB6 program. This was on an HP computer. The system and the VB6 program worked fine with an other USB to serial adapter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This cable got us out of the dark ages We were stuck with old laptops with 9 pin serial ports, which are becoming rarer to find. This cable allows us to connect direct to the USB and system we are programming. Works with all types of PLC programming and FA systems.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Driver Installation need to be latest fr A must for Data collection devices using RS232/Serial port when PC does not come with Serial Port. Driver installation that came with CD will fail (Windows XP). Installation utility downloaded from Web worked with no glitch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Piece of Cake to Install This product was exactly as described. The cable was easy to install and the driver files on CD helped a great deal. I need this product to connect my PC laptop to my Bernina Sewing machine. It works beautifully.
