Solution to a mystery
My household video (splitters and amplifier) was plagued with mysterious dropouts until I read somewhere about the necessity for termination on unused ports on splitters and amps. I bought a bunch of these and plugged the "leaks", and the problems went away.

Best Terminator Ever
I used these terminators when I installed cable in my house. They work perfectly! I recommend turning them to the right when installing them, and turning them to the left when uninstalling... it just doesn't work if you try to do it the other way around.
