This adapter will allow an installer to break out the IR anywhere in line with the Cat5 cable, providing easier placement of IR when MCIA adapter is not convenient to devices being controller via IR. Adapter connectors are female to female RJ45 with 3.5mm mono to break out the IR signal.

Does this adapter simply allow IR to also travel along the same wire as data (Ethernet LAN)? I have a cat6 data line running to the TV for firmware updates via the LAN, and I also need to install an IR emitter to the TV. I was wondering if I would be able to use this adapter to carry IR along the same wire in lieu of running a whole new line just for IR. Please advise as soon as possible. Thanks for your help!
40218 will only work in the run from the keypad to the controller box of our AV controller (product 40348).
