Overview
The TruLink USB to HDMI Kit provides a powerful solution to stream audio and video to a remote monitor, projector or television. Engineered to incorporate Ultra-Wide Band technology(UWB), this kit allows for in-room wireless connectivity up to 30 feet (line of sight) between the computer and display. Setup is simple and usage is seamless because all required video drivers are embedded in the host adapter. After initial software set-up, this device provides a plug and play experience for the user. Our new Quick Link feature allows additional users with host adapters to quickly connect to the device adapter with no additional steps required to ?pair? the devices.
This highly secure wireless connection is ideal for classrooms, conference rooms or to display audio/video content from your laptop to your home entertainment system. Two flexible device adapter mounting options are included, a desk mount and a wall mount.
Please Note: There is currently an issue with sending audio from a Mac running 10.7 or 10.8 to our wireless receiver. This is currently being investigated and we are working toward a resolution.

This is the new version of the CablesToGo branded wireless VGA kit. This version is a huge improvement over the old one. First off, the USB transmitter is also a flash drive containing the software. That in itself is a great feature. They've worked out the problems with Windows 7 and it runs great on Win7, Vista and XP. (even 64bit windows 7)
I have this installed in a corporate conference room so we can use a 60" 1080p TV for presentations. It impresses most folks, especially clients when they don't see a projector. It streams videos well enough and has a setting in the software for streaming video. I've tested with some mpegs and netflix. If you tried with a DVD, my guess would be some screen flutter keeping up, but that's not really what this is designed for. The audio streaming is great and if you've got a small video to show as a part of a presentation, having the audio come from the TV and not your laptop is pretty cool.
I would highly recommend this product for an office setting where you have a TV or large monitor available in lieu of using a projector.
The only drawback is the clunky software installation. (I'd give it 4.5 stars if that were any option) It's not a smooth installation. It is slow to install and you think it's finished several times before it really is. On some machines it requires a reboot. Not exactly something you want to deal with during a meeting when you want to "pass the projector" off to someone who doesn't have the software installed.
All in all, an EXCELLENT product.

Gave me a hard time to make ir work, but basically it was because of poor signal streght. The pc and the tv are about 10-12 feet away, works ok for static images but very bad for streaming video. It is installed in a medical office waiting room, if I hide it behind the tv doesnt work, I have to somehow place it at the edge of the tv and show the antena around the closest side of the tv to the pc to more or less get connected. Definetly doesnt work as described.

Comments about Trulink® Wireless USB to HDMI® Kit:
We installed this product in the first all wireless classroom we designed at MATC in Madison. WI. The USB dongle is attached to the top of the teachers podium. The receive unit sits on top of an equipment rack in the corner of the room. At the start of class, the instructor plugs the USB dongle into the laptop, and in a few seconds, it is linked to the receiver and projected via our switching system onto the screen.
We are now looking into putting 6 units in 1 room, as the new design of our classrooms calls for 5 individual "pods" of 6 students each. Each "pod" will be equipped with a 42" flat panel, and 3 laptops for the students to use. In order for them to "share" ideas, they will have 1 usb "dongle" that will be passed from user to user and their laptop "ideas" will be displayed for their classmates to see and discuss. Apparently this can be done by turning off "pairing" on the first and subsequent devices as you switch each unit to a different frequency.

Q:
I am confused about the USB aspect of this device. It looks like the transmitter plugs into a USB port on the computer. How does the video signal get from the video card into USB so it can be transmitted?Asked on 11/15/2012 by Mark from Baytown, TX1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
It acts just as a USB to VGA adapter would. It just has added wireless capabilities. So there is a wireless chip in both transmitter and receiver and then an additional chip to convert USB to VGA inside the receiver.Answered on 11/19/2012 by Steve from C2G
