(1) Firewire 4-pin Male

Product Description

IEEE-1394, also known as FireWire, iLink® or DV, is a versatile, high speed, and low cost method of interconnecting a variety of computer peripherals and consumer electronics devices. FireWire provides a direct digital link among up to 63 devices, with transfer speeds up to 400 Mbps. Digital video (DV) camcorders, scanners, printers, videoconferencing cameras, and fixed disk drives can all share a common bus connection not only to a PC, but to each other as well.

With Windows® ME® or Apple's FireWire Target Disk Mode you can use an IEEE-1394 cable to connect two computers together to allow for filesharing. Designed to be 100% compatible (1995 compliant) with Apple® FireWire, Sony® iLink, and all other IEEE-1394 peripherals. Twisted pair cabling and shielded construction ensure our FireWire meets or exceeds current IEEE-1394 standards.

Hot-pluggable, our FireWire supports plug-and-play operation. Molded strain relief protects ensures years of trouble-free data transmissions. Compatible with PC, Mac®, Sun® and other IEEE-1394 equipped computers

Please Note: Use the 4-pin cable for non-powered devices, and the 6-pin cable to provide power to devices. FireWire® and the FireWire symbol are trademarks of Apple® Computer, Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. The FireWire logo is a trademark of Apple Computer, Inc. Since Sony doesn't offer driver downloads for Windows 7 to enable downloading digital video taken with their camcorders via usb cords, the IEEE 1394 (aka Firewire) is the only alternative for those of us with this newer Microsoft os. With this cable, which appears to be well made with reasonably robust connectors, one can plug and play using either Windows Media or HP's version to directly download digital video from Sony digital camcorders.

Works less than 50% of time, very loose fitting inside any 6pin firewire ports. Swapped with different brand of cables & works fine!! Save your money & buy another brand.

I FINALLY can connect my HP desktop to my Sony Camcorder. Camcorder has Sony's "ilink" connection but the pc needed this type of 1394. The "Geek Squad" guy told me this doesn't exist because my camera was too old. Sorry, "Geek" but not only does this exist, its working perfectly!

Is there such a thing as an extension for this Cable if I need a longer connection? I use this cable with my DV camera and would like to be able to move a little further out from the PC when videoing.
