Rated 5 out of 5 by from These work great !! Just like the title says, this is a splitter. Not a combiner, as the previous customer thought. However, we have, in most cases, been able to get this to work "backwards" like the previous customer wanted, as long as one of the two devices it turned off.... but then again, it's not exactly designed to do that. These work flawlessly when used correctly!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from two optical outputs to one optical input I had the same issue as a few other post. I have surround sound system with only one optic input and I have two devices that need to plug into it. I though it would work the same as a cable splitter and just send the input signal to surround sound from each device, you would just have to turn one device off so not to get conflicting signals. Well after tiring a couple different configurations, I found out (with my cable box at least) that even with the cable box TURNED OFF it was sill interrupting the signal from the other source, if I discommended or un plugged the power to the box the other devise would work, but as soon as the box was reconnected or plugged power back in only signal it will work for is my cable box. I do not know if this would be true with other devises/ cable boxes, this is just what I experienced. If you are trying to send two outputs into one input using the optical cable, save yourself the head ache and just get a selector switch Item # 28734 here on Cables to go. I hope this helps someone out!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toslink Splitter - Two Better Than One I have two portable MiniDisc Players and a MiniDisc Component Deck. With the splitter I am able to connect one or the other of the Portable MiniDiscs to my Home Audio System. Additionally, the second feed goes to my MiniDisc Component Deck for recording Digital feeds. The flexibility of having two machines working from a single output line via the splitter is great. It is simple and effective, with great construction.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work with Samsung TV Do not waste your time with this. If you try to split the Optical/Digital output from your Samsung TV, this will not work for you. This splitter goes from one (4 fiber optic thread) input to dual (2 fiber optic thread) loosing sound quiality or getting no sound at all. Beware.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of Money... This product is nothing more than 2 plastic threads sitting side-by-side in the input jack and splitting off to 2 outputs. Optical digital data lost on attempted transfer to both "threads". At times by tapping on the splitter, I could get a choppy signal, but nothing more than this. Not worth even trying.

Questions & Answers

I want to split the digital audio output from my LG HDTV to a Bose Solo sound bar and a Sennheiser wireless earphone listening device (Set 880). Will this work and will audio quality be as good as unsplit (Toslink splits 4 fibers to dual 2 fibers)?

Please Note:This splitter is not designed to connect two sources (DVD player, cable box, game system) to one destination (TV, home theater receiver). Instead, it is only designed to take one source and split its signal to go to two destinations.

I am looking to plug one end into my home theater system and the other two ends into my cable box and apple tv, using only one device at a time. Will this work? Thanks.

No, as this device is not designed to connect two sources to one destination. It is only designed to take one source and split its signal to go to two destinations.

Want to use the LG TV TOSLINK to feed 4-6 earbuds or headphones through a group of TOSLINK Audio Splitters (say 4 splitters, branching out to up to 6 Bluetooth transmitters). Will this work? Please state maximum practical? Thank you.

Asked by: pthorn
This device would not work for this. I would suggest something that would be a powered splitter option for the best performance for this situation.
