This adapter was recommended by the author of the unusual free application, a Morse Telegraph interface, which uses the signal control lines instead of RD/SD for data transfer. [...] That said I've been using serial RS-232 comms since the mid 1960's for both business and pleasure and now retired I will be using it for other pleasure apps as well.

This works great as long as you are on XP 32-bit. If you are on a 64-bit machine it will BSOD your box when you run at a speed of 19200. No matter what I plug it into, speed 19200 works for about 1 min then I get a BSOD with Multiple_IRP_Request errors.

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Interfacing to older-style serial port devices

Comments about 1.5ft USB to DB9 Serial RS232 Adapter Cable:

Laptops/computers have all swung over to newer/faster USB format; however, there is still a need to connect to devices having the older style DB9 / 25 serial port connection. In my case, I needed to connect my new computers to an external Terminal Node Controller (TNC) for packet communications. These USB/DB9 serial adapters allow me to make the connections.

I want to add a second monitor, to my computer. My problem is two-fold. 1)-I only have 1 port on my computer 2) 2 people that know computers, recommended, that I get an adapter from USB To VGA. I found what appears to be the answer with this Adapter. I have a 32 bit system. Is this the correct one?

No. This is a USB to serial adapter so it will only send data not video. You would need a product like our USB to VGA adapter (#30545).
