I have a CD player with only one plug in on the back it's going to my amplifier, I want to connect the cd to another receiver will this work
Yes this can, you will have to use on for Red and one for White as you want stereo sound to go in both directions.

I have a Logitech Z-2300 subwoofer which has left and right inputs, and a Yamaha RX-V496 receiver which has a single subwoofer output. Is this the right product to connect them?

Can I get the cable longer or any extension available?
with this style of cable we do not have a longer version, however you can use a extension with barrel connection etc to extend either end.
