Brand: Cables To Go
Located in: Docking Stations
This is the solution for laptop users who also like to use their laptop in the office, but don't like the hassle of connecting each device every time. With this station, connect all peripherals to the docking station, then use the included cable to connect the laptop to the dock. All your peripherals are now connected, with just one cable! This lets you come and go as you please without the hassle of repeatedly connecting and reconnecting devices to your laptop. This station contains a 3-port USB 2.0 hub, one serial DB9 port, one parallel printer port, one 10/100 RJ45 ethernet port, PS/2 mouse and keyboard ports, and a VGA pass-through port - all in just one unit! Connect your monitor, mouse, keyboard, printer, network, modem, and any USB 2.0 devices to the docking station for a convenient all-in-one connectivity solution. This docking station eliminates the clutter of cables connecting to your computer as it requires only a single VGA/USB combo cable. Additional USB hubs can be attached to allow you to daisy-chain up to 127 devices. Plug-and-play functionality eliminates the need to reboot during installation. This simple station makes desktop use of your laptop amazingly simple, convenient and, most importantly, inexpensive. This dock is designed as a “universal” docking station. Due to the differing power requirements of different makes and models of laptop, providing power to the laptop is not a feature of our docking station. Our dock is designed to add an Ethernet port, a 9-pin Serial port, a 25-pin Parallel printer port, 2 PS/2 ports, a 3 port USB hub, and a VGA monitor pass through. Input: One DB9 RS-232 Serial Female, One DB25 Parallel Male (for IEEE-1284 bidirectional printers), Two PS/2 Female (for keyboard and mouse), One RJ45 Female, and One HD15 Male Output: Three USB Type A Female and One HD15 Female Download the product drivers now. Note: This file is over 40 MB and thus may take some time to download.

I have Windows Vista 32 on a Dell laptop M65, ran the CD, plugged it in. The power does not come through to the laptop, runs on battery as if it were not plugged in. Have not tried any other ports as this renders it useless to me. Downloaded the latest driver for Vista, no improvement.

This worked great on my Vista machine. But I upgraded to Win 7 and now am getting the same "Please plug in device to start USB enumeration..." stopping point that others mentioned. Hey guys, how about sharing the solution? You replied to a reviewer that you gave him one. Can I have the secret? This stuff should be posted on your site.

Cables To Go Response: Attempted to contact via email regarding location of driver on website. Have not had heard a response. You are able to download the most recent driver for our docking station from our website at the link below.

The CD that ships with the product doesn't support Windows 7. Drivers are at the website, but once I went there, I couldn't get the video to work at the same time as the serial devices -- it was either one or the other. Technical support? No answer on the phone over the weekend.

Look at the other reviews for this thing. They're all negative. Does this really look like a product you want to buy? Don't do it.

I am working with a brand new Dell XPS16 and this was the docking station recommended by Dell. It appealed to me that you could use this station in the future if you switched laptops. Too bad this one is not working out for any laptop. After installing the drivers from the CD-ROM I then replaced them with the drivers on the website for compatibility with Windows 7.0. but I still am hung up on the message "Please plug in device to start USB enumeration..." and can't get past it even after multiple tries, reconnections of the device, reboots, etc. Written manual not helpful for troubleshooting and can't find other on-line help manual. Right out of the box, the first step is to install the software. Once install shield kicks off the installation freezes with no error message, no activity, and no idea what's wrong. I thought I might have an issue if I were running MS Windows 7, but I didn't see any comments about Vista. My only recourse is to box it up and return it since I'm unable to find any online support for the product.

Cables To Go Response: We have emailed this customer specific instructions on the installation process for the driver install for the product. We have not received a response. Don -- please contact us if there are any further issues with the dock.

Comments about Cables To Go USB 2.0 Laptop Docking Station with Video:

I use my business laptop as a desktop, so disconnect from the docking station often for travel. Eight out of ten times I reconnect to the docking station, it says I have new hardward and asks that I reninstall the software. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why it connects without any issue from time to time. It's very frustrating. This has happened on two laptops, so it's not the laptop. When it recognizes the software, it works fine--no complaints.

Cables To Go Response: RRH, please contact customer service for a replacement. Thanks.

Comments about Cables To Go USB 2.0 Laptop Docking Station with Video:

Patch cable too short to reach VGA and USB ports on this laptop. Hooked it to active USB 10 ft. extension - remote ports don't work. Will buy a 3 ft passive USB extension and try again. What a pain!

Cables To Go Response: "It is our mission to provide an extraordinary customer experience." Jim emailed us back saying "You have done that.... It has been a long time since I saw a product with such an extraordinary install routine. Well done! 78 screen shots in your manual. At any rate, it doesn't work." We responded back about how to fix the Ethernet port, but have yet to hear back from Jim.
