The TruLink™ HDMI over Cat5e Extender is a robust solution that allows you to extend your HDMI signal up to 60 meters (200 feet) over two Cat5 Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cables. This solution is ideal for applications where your HDMI monitor needs to be placed further than the average 10 meter HDMI cable limitation. Driving a HDMI signal over Cat5 allows you to take advantage of your UTP cable infrastructure already installed for a cost-effective and reliable installation.

The TruLink HDMI over UTP solution is ideal for applications when you need to place your HDMI compatible screen in a remote location. This is common in large home installations or digital signage applications, in retail stores, houses of worship, classrooms, and boardrooms where you need video presentation in one room but want the source to be out of sight and in a safe and secure environment. With the TruLink HDMI over UTP Extender, you can place your display across the room, in another room, or on another floor while your source remains in a convenient location.

Features:
  • Extend your digital video signal up to 60 meters (200 feet)
  • Cat5 UTP cabling enables easy and cost effective in-wall installation

  • Input/Output Connectors: HDMI Female
  • RJ45 connectors join the Base Unit and the Remote

*Cat6 cables can be used but are not recommended due to the skew of signal pairs.Replacement AC/DC Adapter 98041

Comments about HDMI over Cat5E Extender:

In our Austin office, installed two video conference trade floor high definition 47" displays using the Sony DH240 cams on a 100ft HDMI cable run... had my doubts but worked fine at 1080p. Installed another brand at our office in Houston - pink screen - planning to use these in our Houston conference rooms next.

Comments about HDMI over Cat5E Extender:

Well lets say that any HDMI install can be so so when dealing with a digital signal. It may still be hit or miss depending on wire and components, but still is one of the most cost efective way of installing HDMI for multi future locations. Only had one bad situation between a Dish DVR and an Onkyo receiver.....HD sat box worked perfect for the run I had but the DVR just couldn't push it.
That's the breaks....had component bundle cable for backup. Long story short when it works it's great but when it don't....always have a backup.

Comments about HDMI over Cat5E Extender:

Installed 2 pairs of these devices between cable boxes and TVs, about 140' runs @ 720p. No video, when the HDMI was plugged into the TV it goes to sleep. I hooked up my laptop to the transmitter and was able to read the EDID information from the monitor (Samsung Syncmaster) but it would not transmit video and stayed asleep. Tried connecting the TX/RX with 2 15' prefabbed CAT5 cables and it behaved the same way. Adjusting the EQ switch also did nothing. Replaced with an Extron unit at twice the price and it worked perfectly.

Comments about HDMI over Cat5E Extender:

Products states that enables easy and cost effective in-wall installation. When the video card on my computer would not detect the monitor on the other end I was told by Tech Support that I needed to make sure the Cat 5e cables were exactly the same length or it could effect the unit. Does not say anything about that in instructions. So much for using cables that are already in place in the house would need to pull them all back out and measure and then put them back in. So much for easy and cost effective. Just another product that might work under ideal conditions that are not outlined in the manual.

Doesn't send out audio signal
By AlVerified Reviewer from Chicago, IL on 9/24/2009
Cons:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about HDMI over Cat5E Extender:

I bought this item about couple of month ago. I am not satisfied with the product because it does not convey any audio signals at all, it only sends out video signals to my Samsung HD Plasma TV model #PN58B560 which is about 35 ft from the source.
This item is a HDMI extender for up to 60ft per your product description, meaning it should send out both audio & video, so I don't know why it doesn't send out any audio signals whatsoever.

Thanks,
Al

Cables To Go Response: Customer service reached out, but we have yet to hear from Al. This extender does support audio. However, certain devices may require adjustment to the audio output. The extender cannot pass an audio signal that is not be sent by the source device.

Cables To Go Response: Sorry to hear that the HDMI extender is not functioning in the manner that you expected. It seems that you are experiencing an HDMI handshake issue between the HDMI source and the projector. A member of our Tech Support team will contact you to resolve the issue.
