Comments about Cables To Go Trulink™ 4-Port VGA/USB 2.0 and PS/2 KVM Switch with Cables:

Does not support my Logitech G5 USB mouse when plugged into the rear PS/2 connector with a USB adapter. Will work plugged into one of the 3 front USB ports.

Frequently locks up when switching PCs via the front panel buttons. Sometimes unplugging the mouse and pressing another botton will fix the problem, most of the times power and all PC USB have to be removed inorder to reset. This means the device and cables have to setup to allow this. Very annoying, have not and will not specify another Cables To Go product for these reasons.

I dont recall if this was purchased here or from another vendor.

Comments about Cables To Go Trulink™ 4-Port VGA/USB 2.0 and PS/2 KVM Switch with Cables:

I got this a couple of years ago.

For whatever reason it refuses to function properly with an AMD Phenom quad motherboard with AMD 780 chipset. Quite frequently only the mouse or the keyboard are recognized. At dos level the keyboard worked, at windows level the mouse works.

BTW the keyboard does not get recognized on a Zotac dual core Atom + nVidia ION motherboard.

I have contacted MSI as well as AMD to find out if the problem is with the usb implementation without evincing any response.

It is a better alternative to a Belkin one I used previously. Belkin did not have a manual switch nor a reset switch which left me totally stranded.

I went through two of these units, the first failed right out of the box, only one port worked consistently. two never worked and the fourth only sometimes. I sent it back, I received the replacement unit and it lasted maybe a month, then it started having video switching issues I would get the desktop of one machine ghosting over another and even another scrolling through those images! I even tried just using it for two units and it could not even handle that. Do not use this unit! I have had better luck with D-link and IO gear. I manage 500 PC's and Ghost many units.I have not tried other models from this Manufacturer but based in this experience will not.

I bought another brand and had it for 1 year before I hooked everything up. It worked for 15 minutes and the sparks flew. I wanted a reliable hub so I did alot of research and have had this one for over a year without a hitch. I love it and believe the words "you get what you pay for" as this unit is well constructed and the cables are well made too. As for buying that little adaptor so you can hook up your keyboard and mouse, so what??? Its still worth it.

Comments about Cables To Go Trulink™ 4-Port VGA/USB 2.0 and PS/2 KVM Switch with Cables:

I purchased this unit and used it sparingly for about 8 months. I then carefully repackaged the unit and carefully stored it (in a dry, dustfree, climated controlled environment) for another 6 months or so. I reconnected the unit to my 2 PCs; it worked for about 2 more months then the video quit working. My usage is actually pretty light; if it won't last any longer than it did under my light load, I can't imagine how it would fare with more use.

Service & Delivery comments:

terrible; sent a request for support hoping to fix the unit; it's been a month and have had no response of any kind.

Comments about Cables To Go Trulink™ 4-Port VGA/USB 2.0 and PS/2 KVM Switch with Cables:

Does not switch USB keyboards / mouse *unless* you have a PS/2 keyboard attached that can put it into the 'Auto-Switch' mode, so you'll always need an old PS/2 keyboard somewhere attached to the unit. About every 3-weeks to 1-day it will fail into some auto-scan mode where USB is constantly switched on/off or is switched between CPUs -- you must disconnect everything, wait 10 seconds, re-connect everything, then find the manual to figure out how to get back into USB switch mode. I've finally given the unit back to the IT dept. -- I never want to see another Cables-to-Go unit again.

Comments about Cables To Go Trulink™ 4-Port VGA/USB 2.0 and PS/2 KVM Switch with Cables:

I engineer systems for Public Safety Dispatch Centers and only use these to eliminate numerous keybords. Although the construction and appearance are quite favorable, Dispatchers usually want the KVM mounted out of the way on ergonomic lifting console positions and therefore they depend upon keyboard switching control 100 percent of the time. These devices are our thorn in our side since they seem to lock up often (2-3 days) after a reset causing numerous service calls. We have tried switching from USB keyboards to PS2 keyboards without success.

Comments about Cables To Go Trulink™ 4-Port VGA/USB 2.0 and PS/2 KVM Switch with Cables:

I've got about 15 of these installed in our small office. They work well most of the time, but occasionally need to be reset. The reset button is located on the back so it's very difficult for end users to get to.
If you are using a USB keyboard, the switch will not take commands from it, you'll have to use the buttons to switch. Another con is that the USB hub defaults to floating after a power outage. Any time the switch loses power you have to lock the USB hub to the switch again.
For the price, it's the best I've found. Fix those problems and it'll be a great value.

Comments about Cables To Go Trulink™ 4-Port VGA/USB 2.0 and PS/2 KVM Switch with Cables:

Would not ever recommend this product. I cannot select between operating systems on my dual boot computer. It will not let me select to "boot from cd drive" when reinstalling operating systems and always locking up on me switching between other computers to my Vista PC. Talked to tech support and that was no help. I need to always have a spare keyboard and mouse when I am using this which defeats the purpose. My old KVM that was a $30 cheapie laster me for years and never had ANY of these issues....

Cables To Go Response: We reached out to this customer and here was their response: "Thank you for your response to the issues that I posted. I understand that alot of the computers I have to work on are older and the USB technology was not fully there so I have to use an old keyboard until it boots up, then it will find the USB Device and then it works fine. I do this after you mentioned going into the BIOS to make sure USB function was enabled..THANK YOU...the other problem I was having with the Vista machine seemed to go away after switching cables...I had tried switching ports on the KVM and the problem followed the PC..I switched cables and it has not locked on me for a while now......
I am not asking for a new cable..I will purchase one...I will retract my review on this product and will post a new one that your tech support cares...Thank you...Very Much..."

Comments about Cables To Go Trulink™ 4-Port VGA/USB 2.0 and PS/2 KVM Switch with Cables:

I have been through many kvm's over the years. With new units being digital video and PS/2 needed to upgrade. Wish I had one that could "do it all" I am very happy with this unit, more than a year or so. Every once in a while (2 or 3 times a year?) it will loose its settings (usb follows active computer setting) but it is rare and mostly works great. I like the solid feel of this unit, thinner diameter connecting cables and the weight means it will not get pulled or pushed by cables. Best KVM I have ever used.

One port NEVER worked at all so it was useless for my application right from the start. Nice heavy doorstop reminder never to do business with them again
