Comments about Cables To Go TruLink™ 2-Port VGA/USB and PS/2 KVM Switch with Cables:

[...]. I know its a simple KVM but its right there in the book. Out of the box the usb ports on the KVM are not auto sensing. Meaning they will not switch to your 2nd PC without pressing a shortcut key on the keyboard. To avoid this hold the BIG FRIKKEN BUTTON on the KVM down for 3 seconds. You will see the left most LED light up green indicating that the USB ports are set to auto sensing. This means that when you press the BIG FRIKKEN BUTTON to switch between computers, the mouse and keyboard will swap as well. Not just the video. I will admit I was puzzled at first and thought this might be an incompatability issue, but I swallowed my pride and looked at the manual. Works great once auto sensing is turned on. Perhaps it should come like that by default. Other than the screen res issue this thing works pretty good.

Comments about Cables To Go TruLink™ 2-Port VGA/USB and PS/2 KVM Switch with Cables:

Three main complaints.
1) Plug Design: There are plugs on all four sides. This makes it impossible to place this unit anywhere inconspicious. Given that you need to press the giant button on the top of the unit to toggle between devices you cant even hide it under the desk, this means that you have a cable management mess. I can deal with the USB on the front, however the monitor and power cables out of the sides make this an ugly wire mess on you desktop.
2) Resolution Resizing: This unit will kick you PC back to 1024x768 EVERY time you toggle. EVERY TIME. Not sometimes, every time. And why is this an issue? Well, lets see... because it is. If say I'm switching between a server and a workstation. The server is already at 1024x768, fine. But the workstation that was at 1200x1024 now has been mushed up. All my icons are randomly smattered across my desktop. Sigh.
3) Toggle: Once oppon a time you tapped 'scroll lock' twice and it would switch between monitors. Every KVM in the world used this toggle and all was good. Now this with this stupid thing you need to press the scroll lock once then press again and hold while pressing one or two... ehh no. Most users can't even remember simple shortcuts. This is a pain. But there is a big button on the top of it! Well this works good. But it is easy to hit it by accident because the 32 (8 actually) wires sticking out of the thing make it float an inch off the desktop causing you screen to resize and messing up whatever you were working on.
Good design guys. Order the Cables to go "52043". Half the price and works right.

I use this to work on other computers, while not having to disconnect my personal pc. The only problems I keep having is driver issues. XP keeps not recognizing it and I get the Blue Screen of Death. Please make a driver for this thing that is reliable...
