Our aluminum hub conveniently adds four high speed USB 2.0 ports to your desktop or laptop computer. The slim form factor saves space while the port placement and hard-mountable metal base keep the hub in place even when several USB devices are connected. The removable aluminum base can be hard-mounted to your desk. The hub easily slides from that base, and makes it convenient for travel as well.

This hub can be self-powered from the USB port, or utilize an AC power supply adapter (#98026, not included). Downstream ports have automatic connect and speed detection plus overcurrent protection with auto recovery. Add additional hubs to daisy-chain up to 127 devices; this hub delivers high speed data transfers up to 480 Mbps.

The position of the ports is why I love this little hub, with two in the back for a printer and external hard drive and two in front for my flash stick and anything else I want. Plus its aluminum and has a cool blue LED on top.

This hub needs external power to operate some USB devices reliably. It has an external power jack but is not provided with a power source. Finding a suitable power source with the proper plug to fit the hub's jack is no easy task. Cables To Go does not offer a power source that is compatible. I ended up purchasing the parts from another company and assembling my own power source. To operate three or four external hard drives as I am doing you need a power supply capable of supplying 3000 to 4000 milliamps or 3 to 4 amps. Without sufficient power my laptop computer behaves strangely offering dialog messages that prove to be misleading at best and totally wrong in the worst case. With sufficient power all of these strange messages disappear and my hard drives work properly.

I got the 4 outlet hub to clean up the mass of wires running to the rear of my computer. Now the hub is tucked neatly behind my slim monitor and all the wires are neatly hidden away. It works great for my purposes. Order went smoothly and only took a couple of days to receive it.
