I had designed an octal Ethernet switch for a customer & accidently chose the wrong RJ45 connector for the board - connector tab was facing upward instead of downward. Instead of re-working the board (which would have been a nightmare to fix on 8 ports), I bought 8 cross couplers & had the switch up & running in notime!
