IEEE-1394b is the latest in FireWire technology, and our IEEE-1394b or FireWire 800 cable provides transfer speeds up to a blazing 800 Mbps! This is twice the speed of the original 1394 standard, and is a real must-have for transporting and networking multiple types of digital data between users and systems. Digital Video (DV) camcorders, scanners, printers, videoconferencing cameras, and fixed disk drives can all share a common bus connection not only to a PC, but to each other as well. With Windows® ME® or Apple's FireWire Target Disk Mode you can use an IEEE-1394b cable to connect two computers together to enable filesharing. Hot-pluggable, our FireWire supports plug-and-play operation. This cable is designed to be 100% compatible with Apple® FireWire®, Sony® iLink®, and all other IEEE-1394 peripherals; also compatible with PC, Mac®, Sun® and other IEEE-1394 equipped computers. Twisted pair cabling and shielded construction ensure our IEEE-1394b cable meets or exceeds current IEEE-1394b standards. Molded strain relief ensures years of trouble-free data transmissions. When connecting to 1394a legacy devices, the data transfer speed is 400 Mbps due to 1394a limitations. Connector 1: 9-pin 1394b Male Connector 2: 6-pin 1394a Male Please Note: FireWire® and the FireWire symbol are trademarks of Apple® Computer, Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. Comments about Cables To Go 1m IEEE-1394b FireWire® 800 9-pin to 6-pin Cable (3.2ft):

Cable is to short for Digital photography with a PhaseOne back. I think that 5m should be the minimum.
You really dont have enough cable if you are high on a ladder and the computer on the ground.

Comments about Cables To Go 1m IEEE-1394b FireWire® 800 9-pin to 6-pin Cable (3.2ft):

Only thing lacking was another choice of length for the cable - would have liked to have had a 10' or 12' length. Also, the connector on the MacBook side was a little loose, but stayed in the computer. Overall, though, a great solution for connecting your legacy FW devices to newer MacBooks!

Comments about Cables To Go 1m IEEE-1394b FireWire® 800 9-pin to 6-pin Cable (3.2ft):

I just purchased a new iMac with a FireWire 800, 9-pin input only. All my older external drives are FireWire 400 units with 6-pin connectors. This 400 to 800 cable allows me to continue using all my older external drives. I have daisy-chained all the old FireWire drives together and then connected the whole string to my iMac with the new cable. This gives me multiple storage and backup options. Note that using the 800 cable with 400 drives does not convert the old drives to the faster 800 speed. That's just the nature of the technology, not the fault of this cable. So far, this has been an extremely reliable solution.

It works great ! Solidly built ! I definitely have been recommending this site to all my colleagues.

Comments about Cables To Go 1m IEEE-1394b FireWire® 800 9-pin to 6-pin Cable (3.2ft):

This is a beast of a cable. It's got a thick cable to it; I was actually really surprised when I pulled it out of the bag. The connection points are very strong and well-reinforced. It has worked flawlessly between my Motu 828 MK-II firewire device and my aluminum unibody MacBook Pro. Even better, for the price, it can't be beat. I'm going to buy several of these for my various rigs.

Comments about Cables To Go 1m IEEE-1394b FireWire® 800 9-pin to 6-pin Cable (3.2ft):

I connected my son's new MacBook Pro to my (much older) G5 desktop machine...one was a 800 bps port and the other was a 400 bps port and it worked like magic! Started up the laptop in Target mode (holding down the "T" key) and then it appeared on the desktop of my G5, just like an extra hard drive. It made transferring programs and photos easy as pie.

I needed to connect a new Mac to an older external Firewire drive - couldn't find a 9 to 6 cable locally, and next time I'll go straight to CablesToGo. Right cable, good price, no quality issues, got here faster than promised. I even got a follow-up phone call!

Thanks guys! (and/or gals)

When I purchased my new iMac, I needed a cable compatible with my old iMac to migrate my files and applications to the new machine. Since the older machine has a 6-pin Firewire connection and the new machine has a 9-pin connection, I was not able to do the job without a proper cable. CablesToGo to the rescue! Although I had not used your company before, I felt confident that you could satisfy my need for this job. [...]in no time I was migrating my data. The cable will also be useful in the future for similar connective issues. Thank you for assisting me with this frustrating compatibility problem.

All that could be added would be a DOUBLE plug in be made available so that TWO cords may be plugged in to one outlet, such as is available for phones. Thus eliminate the changing of cords all the time.
