This USB Easy Transfer Cable provides a hassle-free way to transfer all of your files between Windows operating systems*.  A simple wizard-driven program walks you through a few simple steps, and enables you to transfer your files (such as program data files, photos, music, videos), emails, and settings from your old system to your new Windows system in virtually no time. This transfer cable can also transfer data between two Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Windows 7 systems. No external power is required; supported by bus power from either USB port.

I spent almost 5 hours toset this thing up - had errors reading the supplied Cd - had to go on webasite to download software - installed and re-installed many times - was not easy - but I did get it to work - what a pain in the neck for me and I am an advanced user..

Cables To Go Response: We do apologize for the inconvenience. On some of the CDs that were released, the Microsoft Easy Transfer software was from a previous version. If you received one of the older disks, this would require a download from our website or Microsoft’s website for the Easy Transfer software to get our transfer cable to function.

I bought this item to ease my work but actually it is a headache to install it's software and get the stupid thing hardware detected in a very simple way . I keep getting the message " Setup has detected that the service pack of this system is newer than the update you are applying . There is no need to install this update " . But still the stupid thing does not get detected or installed .Lost my money on such a stupid hardware.

Cables To Go Response: It sounds like the software on the CD did not install correctly for our EasyTranfer cable. I would recommend installing the EasyTransfer software from our website if you having trouble with the cable being recognized correctly. If this still does not resolve the issue, please give our technical support staff a call at 800-826-70904 opt 3.

Used cable to transfer data from a Windows XP PC to a Windows 7 PC. Worked great once I got it to connect, but spent over 2 hours trying to follow several different sets of directions (manual & internet) before it became functional. Great concept, good execution, but hard to set up.
