The Ultima FireWire cable optimizes style, quality, and value in a cable specially designed for high performance. This cable is quad-shielded with a dual Mylar® foil and braid to reduce EMI/RFI interference while twisted pair construction helps reduce crosstalk thus ensuring high-speed, error-free data transfer up to 400 Mbps. The sleek design of the molded connectors makes them easy to grip. The metal connector shield with a solder-to-connector shell and cable braid create an end-to-end shielding solution for a noise-free connection.

24k gold-plated connectors provide maximum corrosion resistance for error-free data transfer. The charcoal gray cable jacket not only matches your case but disappears behind your desk leaving a clean organized look. Finally, an ultra-flexible jacket makes installation easy. IEEE-1394, also known as FireWire, iLink® or DV, is a versatile, high-speed, and low cost method of interconnecting a variety of computer peripherals and consumer electronics devices. FireWire provides a direct digital link among up to 63 devices, with transfer speeds up to 400 Mbps.

Digital video (DV) camcorders, scanners, printers, videoconferencing cameras, and fixed disk drives can all share a common bus connection not only to a PC, but to each other as well.

With Windows ME® or Apple's FireWire Target Disk Mode you can use an IEEE-1394 cable to connect two computers together to allow for filesharing. Designed to be 100% compatible (1995 compliant) with Apple® FireWire, Sony® iLink, and all other IEEE-1394 peripherals. Twisted pair cabling and shielded construction ensure our FireWire meets or exceeds current IEEE-1394 standards.

Hot-pluggable, our FireWire supports plug-and-play operation. Molded strain relief protects ensures years of trouble-free data transmissions. Compatible with PC, Mac®, Sun® and other IEEE-1394 equipped computers

Connector 1: 6-pin 1394a Male
Connector 2: 6-pin 1394a Male

Comments about Cables To Go 2m Ultima™ IEEE-1394a FireWire® 6-pin to 6-pin Cable:

I use the Ultima connected to a Mac Mini and a Firewire DAC. I was looking for something that was better than the stock firewire cord that comes with many products, something that improved the performance of my DAC. The Ultima comes with very good gold plated ends that fit snuggly into the sockets. The cable has some heft to it and is very solidly built. When I first connected it there was an immediate improvement in the top end, as the cable broke in the bottom end became more weighty and everything settled in very nicely. Throughout the frequency spectrum everything is greatly improved, more weighty, clearer open vocals, and airy highs without any touch of gain or harshness. I highly recommend this cable for anyone who uses a High-End DAC and wants top performance that it would take many times the cost to beat. In fact compared to a very costly USB cable this cable made an even bigger positive impact on sound.

Comments about Cables To Go 2m Ultima™ IEEE-1394a FireWire® 6-pin to 6-pin Cable:

This should be the cable that comes with all of MOTU's DAW's, but it is not. If you care about the signal from any of your firewire audio gear you should upgrade to this one.

Comments about Cables To Go 2m Ultima™ IEEE-1394a FireWire® 6-pin to 6-pin Cable:

I bought this to replace a lower-quality build firewire cable that I believed was the culprit behind random errors with my audio interface. Its heavy duty and works great. No more problems!

I run a small recording studio and needed to move my firewire interface to other locations of the room from time to time. This long firewire cable was perfect for what I needed.
