To keep the cable hidden, I needed a 20' run to the sub. This worked well and was easy to route through holes in the wall.
Alas there's still hum in the sub when the music is off. Others have reported this with the sony receiver I'm using, so I do not think it's weak shielding - I think it's a Sony ground loop problem, probably.

Cable(s) were run under the house and up thru walls to service a home theater installation. Tough enough to survive this environment, and operate in the environment of a crawl space. Much sturdier construction than I expected.
