Comments about Cables To Go 6ft USB Serial DB25 Adapter Cable:
Works well once you know the quirks.
Any usb memory drives in use causes the pc to reassign the COM port number. Requiring a software setting to be changed.
Got to reboot the pc if auto shutdown occurs, otherwise pc won't load driver.
Need to add 96 bytes minimum at end of file, after %, to ensure that the buffer empties into CNC.
Far more reliable than the old 9 pin com ports.

I recently upgraded from Window XP to Windows 7 needed to configure a Cisco switch. My old Belkin adapter didn't work. Drivers were no longer supported. I did a Google search and found CablesToGo. I just installed the software and connected the adapter and everything started working.Very pleased.

Comments about Cables To Go 6ft USB Serial DB25 Adapter Cable:
The cable was used to connect an 8-port gauge input box to a small cpu which only had USB ports.
The cable hardware driver is easy to load, and takes only a few seconds to setup on the computer. The cable connected our hardware to CPU without a flaw.
The only issue we had with the cable was the threaded tabs on the RS-232 side had to be cut off to allow room to plug into the hardware. Easily taken care of though.

Comments about Cables To Go 6ft USB Serial DB25 Adapter Cable:
I bought this cable to go between a Kantronics 3 Plus TNC and my laptop. The D25 end of the cable has lugs that have to be wrestled off before it will fit on the TNC. It was not easy. It would be helpful if the lugs were made to be removed more easily.

Ordered two cables. One was a perfect fit. The other was not and I have been trying to return the unopened package for over 3 weeks. Thge lack of response is a major negative.
Delivery was prompt. Web site was not in enough detail to order correctly the second cable.

Comments about Cables To Go 6ft USB Serial DB25 Adapter Cable:
Bought this two years ago to interface my computer to a satellite antenna rotator. It either won't work at all, or it works half way through a satellite pass (about 5 minutes) then quits. It is by far the most unreliable piece of computer equipment I have ever purchased. Customer service & Tech Support are non-existent. Save your money and a lot of frustration by installing a second serial port card because this adapter is nothing but junk. Lots of promises about how great it is in the write-ups. But it's just another scam piece of merchandise made to get your money! The only reason I gave it one star is because that is the lowest rating the web site allows. Ity should be minus 5 stars.

Comments about Cables To Go 6ft USB Serial DB25 Adapter Cable:
I was told that the cable would work with my Mac G4 laptop. Also was told that the hexnuts were removable by just unscrewing them. Well, they are not unscrewable however, I was able to remove them without ruining the cable. Trying to use the cable to go from Mac USB to iomega Zip SCSi connection to be able to use my commercial HP scanner and the iomega ZIP drive. It doesn't work with Mac OS10 or even Mac OS9 Classic. Even though it connects physically, the compatibility is not there. It is unreturnable since I to alter it to get the hex nuts off. Thanks anyway for your service.

I unpacked it, connected it to my Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop left side USB port, let Windows do its thing and then connected the DB25 end to a Sun Microrystems Ultra 10 with a DB25 serial port board... tested with putty and hyperterminal on the Dell laptop and tip on the Sun system. Worked fine for this simple connection.

Comments about Cables To Go 6ft USB Serial DB25 Adapter Cable:
I purchased this to allow connection of a RS232 device to a USB port on my computer. The software did not work and the connection did not link. I am not sure if there is a hardware issue as well as this type of device usually has an onboard chip for configuration. Regardless, the cable combo did not work.

Comments about Cables To Go 6ft USB Serial DB25 Adapter Cable:
Used this cable as a communication bridge from my SMDR port on our Nortel Phone equipment to our Network Server for phone auditing/report generating capabilities. The cable works as advertised.
I had an issue with the DB25-side securing screws - they prevented me from securing the DB25 side down into the SMDR port so I used a hacksaw and sawed them off to make the interface bezel flush and allow it to seat properly.
This is in no-way a negative aspect of the product as I am using this cable to fulfill a purpose slightly outside of its original scope.
