This adapter converts a DisplayPort signal for viewing on a HDMI-equipped display. Connect the adapter directly to the PC. Then use your HDMI cable between the adapter and the display, and enjoy PC video content on virtually any high-definition digital audio/video display. Features 8in dongle-style adapter, nickel-plated DisplayPort connector, molded HDMI connector, 28 AWG copper wire, Aluminum shielding to protect against EMI/RFI. Supports full 1080p resolution. Connector 1: DisplayPort Male Connector 2: HDMI Female Please Note: 1.1 supports a single video source, and our DisplayPort cables and adapters support this specification. For reference, version 1.2, as it occurs in the future, will support multiple video streams for such devices that require the additional bandwidth. This DisplayPort adapter operates passively and is designed for use with dual mode graphics cards often designated with “D++”. HDMI audio is supported by this adapter when connected to a device that possesses dual mode and HDMI audio capability. Although the vast majority of source devices support HDMI with audio, some are incapable when using a passive adapter. If you are uncertain if your source device supports HDMI audio with passive adapters, please consult with your computer or graphics card manufacture to verify.

I use the 8" adaptor on the rear of my HPE 270f Desktop for the video output to my monitor. It has 2 spring loaded prongs that make a very tight connection. The 8" length is just about perfect for crowded components. It actually makes a more solid connection than HDMI! The DisplayPort DOES PASS AUDIO. This seems to be reason for confusion with many folks. The problem is that my computer automatically disabled the audio on the DisplayPort to HDMI because I have another TV hooked to the HDMI port. Picture is as good as with HDMI.

Using this cable for high end home theater systems and notebooks, this cable has overcome the worst of the worst testing it can possibly endure with no issues. Audio and video transfers through this cable, make sure your system supports audio pass-through the DisplayPort connector (i.e. the hardware has to support a SPDIF pass-through or have a discrete DisplayPort audio solution.) The only problem I found is that the connector wears out over a period a time to where the wire shield is exposed. People who are none the wiser might think it may be hazardous at that point.

Problem: How to display laptop screen on an HDTV that doesn't have any RGB (computer) inputs. Solution: Many laptops have a TV out but that conversion of the signal is very poor and doesn't look very good on todays HDTVs. Many laptops also have Display Port output capabilities but most HDTVs do not have a Display Port input option. By combining this DisplayPort Mail to HDMI adapter cable with the Velocty High-Speed HDMI Cable http://www.[@]) you can achieve the high quality results you need to display your laptop's output on your HDTV.

This item was purchased to create and interface between a Lenovo Think Pad, with "DisplayPort" and HDMI equiped display devices. All though the Video is outstanding, the Audio function does not exist. Without audio support additional external wires (audio cables) are required.

Cables To Go Response: We have tried to contact Larry to help him and are awaiting his response. We believe the problem he is experiencing is a setting on the video card that must be changed. This adapter will pass both audio and video signals, as long as the DisplayPort is providing both audio and video.
