Only one side of the splitter worked. Attempted to obtain an exchange but feel like I have to jump through hoops to make it happen. Instead of dealing with all the detail, I went to a local supply for another splitter

Comments about Cables To Go 2-Port RJ45 Splitter/Combiner:
We were using it as a 'Y-splitter' to run two computers to the same modem via ethernet. (They are desktops and we have no need of a router.)...One side worked? The red (female) input side worked, the blue didn't. [...]
Customer service was great when I called inquiring about the part. They recommended the installation guide (which was not included with the part) be followed. (It did not apply to our use.)
Very fast shipping. Documentation and RMA information from another company altogether. (ANT Online.) The RMA terms are not that great with ANT so be careful on expensive items.

Comments about Cables To Go 2-Port RJ45 Splitter/Combiner:
The splitter takes advantage of the fact that there are 4 twisted pairs in a CAT 5 cable but only four wires are used for typical configurations using positions 1,2,3 and 6 in the RJ45 connection. The splitter takes advantage of the other four - 4,5,7,and 8. It requires two splitters, however, one at the router to pick up two ports and the other at the computer/printer to reconfigure the two RJ45 sockets correctly in the 1,2,3 and 6 configuration. Nice way to get two wired connections from one wire.

Comments about Cables To Go 2-Port RJ45 Splitter/Combiner:
Researched the product/reviews prior to purchasing two. Hooked them up as shown in the pic on the product page; one to the cat5 jack in a office to two computers - the other to a router using two patch cables to the router and the male end to a patch panel feeding the cat5 to the room. Only one side worked. Live Chatted with a rep here on the site and it was determined one of them is bad. Returning for a replacement.

I have a router downstairs with about 50 feet of cable to an upstairs computer and needed to add another upstairs computer (and preferred not to run another long cable). Two of these, along with two couplers, the long cable, and two short cables on each end and everything is working GREAT!! Thanks for the Live Chat help, too.
Comments about Cables To Go 2-Port RJ45 Splitter/Combiner:
This is a great product, but as it says, you need to buy TWO. Plug one into your router (two ports of router) and one into the outlet at the other end and then plug your two computers into it. Some people didn't understand this in other reviews. If you plug one at each end, it works GREAT. Took less than 5 minutes to install and I have both computers hooked to the internet.

Comments about Cables To Go 2-Port RJ45 Splitter/Combiner:
Amazing product, I ordered these long ago knowing I would one day need them. I think other people reviewing these do not know that they should be used in PAIRS; or, if used one at a time, the other end of the cable run must be correctly wired as well. I used 2 of these, one at each end of an 80' run of terminated Cat5e, to connect a printer room to a server closet. The printer room had 3 available rj45 network connections, and the customer was adding a fourth printer. This product made installation simple and avoided the need to run additional cabling or convert any of the printers to wireless.
Comments about Cables To Go 2-Port RJ45 Splitter/Combiner:
The product was very easy to install. It came with snap in labels so it was easy to keep the connections on each end straight. Five minutes on each end of the Cat 5 cable was all it took to have two network connections instead of one without running more cable through the attic and down the wall. What a time saver. Thanks.

Comments about Cables To Go 2-Port RJ45 Splitter/Combiner:
When I bought this splitter, I wanted to use it to plug two computers into one internet cable plugin in my apartment on a university campus but it does not give either computer internet when it is plugged in. Do not buy this product! There are easier ways of fixing these problems.

Did not work. Plugged it in and did not work at all. Maybe it was just a lemon. Did not use it. Sitting in a drawer.
Comments about Cables To Go 2-Port RJ45 Splitter/Combiner:
As I've read on other comments the wiring is improperly terminated for these devices. None of the right side ports on them work for me (usage desired is two 100 Mb/s ethernet connections for data). The wire segment length to the switch including patch cables is under 45' (of Cat5e). I just tested 4 units. Moving them in different orders/pairs (patch panel and user end ports). I've tested all cables used w/ no problems found in them. Pinouts for the cable on the device(s) appear to be wiring standard B. I know I've used other wire splitters w/ the same standard and have had excellent results. This product is a big let down and a major inconvenience now to replace. With the amount of troubleshooting I've invested I could have assembled my own splitters :-(

Comments about Cables To Go 2-Port RJ45 Splitter/Combiner:
Bought it to connect 2 devices (computers) to one ethernet port on my router, but only one side of the splitter works, but it works fully, as if the splitter weren't even there. I don't know if there's a defect in the second side, or what (I even tried a patch cable in the second side and still got nothing).

Comments about Cables To Go 2-Port RJ45 Splitter/Combiner:
well i purchased the splitter to hook up 2 ethernet cables to a computer and a playstation 3. Unfortunately, it simply didn't work. Supposedly, in order for my situation, i need a splitter with two 8 conducter ports, rather than this splitter which is just a single 8conduceter that splits into 4 in each port. These splitters do exist, but the site doenst carry them. waste of time & money
delivery was the reg. 5 business days, customer service was knowledgeable & tried to help me find the splitter i needed.

Used it to split the signal out the back of a modem/router -- to get one of Sprint's cell signal boosters to work.Worked just swell.[...]

Comments about Cables To Go 2-Port RJ45 Splitter/Combiner:
Very straightforward. Using it to split to a printer and an IP telephony device. Not sure if I would trust it to work with a computer necessarily.
