Installing network devices in distant locations of a building can be a challenge since high voltage outlets may not be available. The implementation of Power over Ethernet (PoE) provides a convenient solution for supplying both data and power over a single cable and connection to supported devices. The challenge exists when older network switches which do not support PoE are used with new PoE-compliant devices.

The Power over Ethernet adapter by Cables To Go is the solution for network switches that lack PoE functionality by injecting power into the existing network cabling to a PoE-compliant device. Data and power can now be delivered to devices such as cameras, printers, wi-fi access points or VoIP phones through a single cable and connection without having to replace network hardware.

Please Note: The Power over Ethernet adapter by Cables To Go is intended for PoE-compliant devices which can accept both data and power through a single RJ45 connection over Cat5/6 cable. Please consult with your device’s owner’s manual to ensure compatibility.

Where is the Other Half II

Comments about Cables To Go Power Over Ethernet (POE) Power Adapter:

After reading previous comment the problem is with the supplied installation guide. The installation schematic and verbage clearly show another piece (power splitter)for the device end. Although this is not required for POE devices and therfore not needed it should NOT be illistrated as a novice might assume they are missing something. Common China speak for electronics!

Comments about Cables To Go Power Over Ethernet (POE) Power Adapter:

I use POE all the time, this looks like a great injector. But it does not say it is 802.3poe
compliate, so you need the other half, on the other end of the cable by the piece of equipment you are trying to power, to split the power back off the data lines. with out other half this product is over priced.

Cables To Go Response: Thank you for your recent review of our product 29816 Power Over Ethernet Power adapter. This adapter does support the 802.3ak specification. Our solution is intended for “Phantom powering”, to supply power through the RJ45 UTP connection. The best example I can give is like an internal phone system which supplies the phone with power and voice data over a single Cat5e cable.
Unfortunately, we currently do not have the other piece that would take the PoE signal and break out the Ethernet and DC power plug separately.

Thanks,
Support Supervisor
