Comments about Cables To Go TruLink™ Wireless USB to VGA Adapter Kit:

I received this from my brother. I came here to download the latest Vista/Win7 drivers, firmware and software. I installed it on my HP HDX and it BSOD big time, tried another Windows 7 machine, kaboom, BSOD, all of my Windows 7 machines are 64bit so maybe they have an issue with that, if so FIX IT!!!!!!! I then tried an old 32bit Vista machine I have, it worked perfectly, no issues at all.

If it would work in 64bit Windows 7 that would be great and I would recommend it. Since all of my production machines are 64bit Windows 7, this thing has no use what so ever, since I can't return it I'll leave it plugged into the Vista machine and try to find a use...

Comments about Cables To Go TruLink™ Wireless USB to VGA Adapter Kit:

This product is junk. Basic setup, notebook wireless to 32" HDMI TV. Would not keep the connection, would not display the contents across the entire TV screen. Tech support is horrible, been in the business for 15 years and never have I been so insulted by TS. Even after upgrading to 5.5 with fit to TV, still does not work correctly. I am going hardwire for best results. Not recomended to others.

Comments about Cables To Go TruLink™ Wireless USB to VGA Adapter Kit:

When you connect the product works great. However you will still be putting your sound out through your laptop speakers unless you have other arrangements. Video play fast so no complains on that part. The last thing is that I've found most users can barely run a jump drive let alone figure out how to run this. It always requires training.

Poor Driver Support

Comments about Cables To Go TruLink™ Wireless USB to VGA Adapter Kit:

The product, when we were on Vista, worked well. We contacted support to determine windows 7 driver availability, which was promised "By the end of November". We timed our Windows 7 upgrade to coincide. It is December, no drivers, and no responses from support despite other requests. Good product, poor support. Look elsewhere. We are now replacing all our TruLink devices wince we cannot obtain a W7 driver.

Cables To Go Response: We anticipated having the driver available by the end of November. We have run into some complications with the driver for Windows 7 that has set the original release date back. We are working diligently on the driver update and hope to have the driver by sometime in January.

Bottom Line:

Comments about Cables To Go TruLink™ Wireless USB to VGA Adapter Kit:

This wireless VGA was easy to setup and configure and great while there was direct line of sight between transmitter and receiver. However, anything placed between the two, such as a hand near the aerial, sheet of wood, let alone a human body, degraded the signal often to the point of total disconnection. In my experience therefore not sufficiently rebust for use in classrooom or conference room where people may interrupt the signal.

Cables To Go Response: FYI: Our product manager says..."We are working on an antenna booster that may help with this issue somewhat. However, UWB is a line of sight technology and that limitation is inherent. We are also working on other Wireless technologies that are not line of sight and should be available mid-next year."

Comments about Cables To Go TruLink™ Wireless USB to VGA Adapter Kit:

It said it was WiMedia 1.0 MAC Compliant, but it is not. To be Mac complaint it should work on a Mac. Plus there is absolutely no support for a Mac user. Come on people, get your packaging / advertising / and product synchronized. From a very unhappy purchaser. What a waste of cash.

Cables To Go Response: Note: WiMedia does not mean Mac compatible. WiMedia MAC is a specification approved by an organization, and not related in any way to Apple(R).

Comments about Cables To Go TruLink™ Wireless USB to VGA Adapter Kit:

Product enables a wirless use of laptop and projector. Increases mobility and provides ease of use. Only negative was that the product did not specify if it was male or female. Check before you purchase so that you get exactly what you need. However, you can use a male cable to plug the wireless VGA adapter into and then into the projector.

Comments about Cables To Go TruLink™ Wireless USB to VGA Adapter Kit:

Great product. Eliminates the need of having to run VGA cables from the computer to an external display. Program/drivers installed and system worked perfect the first time. Also has the ability to select different channels so you can make sure you get the best signal strength possible for the environment you are in. "Line of sight" is A MUST. Product is ideal for church's who need to display song lyrics and such via Microsoft PowerPoint, MediaShout, etc within the transmission range (approx. 30 feet). You will need a short VGA cable to connect the receiver to the external display (projector, monitor, etc.)

Comments about Cables To Go TruLink™ Wireless USB to VGA Adapter Kit:

I am using this item in a moderate size church auditorium with a older Dell 1100 PC. I don't see any interference and the display is stable once the units establish a talk link. Provides the flexability of moving the PC anywhere within the specified range. Bye, bye cables and well worth the cost!

Comments about Cables To Go TruLink™ Wireless USB to VGA Adapter Kit:

Great picture even off my slow netbook. Unit should come with a 4" monitor cable for a nicer install. Also does not work on WIN7! Would like the option of having additional video end sticks for switching between multiple PC presenting.

Cables To Go Response: Jeff - you are right; we are working on adding a 6-inch VGA cable in the future.

Comments about Cables To Go TruLink™ Wireless USB to VGA Adapter Kit:

Agree with the first reviewer that it should have been a male connector on the receiver, but overall these are fantastic for large conference rooms where the presenter wants to be somewhat mobile with the laptop. They are a snap to install and work exactly as advertised. One other note, in addition to needing the vga cable to connect the receiving unit to the display device, you also need a power supply within about 2-3 ft of the receiver.

Comments about Cables To Go TruLink™ Wireless USB to VGA Adapter Kit:

Great product, but it has the wrong connector on the monitor end. You still need a CRT cable to connect the wireless adapter to the projector or monitor. This makes for a sloppy implementation.
