Asus puts the 10-pin header connector for this item at the far corner of the motherboard from where it mounts in a case. If you have an Asus M/B get the similar item with the longer ribbon cable!

The new Asus motherboards have an onboard connector for a serial port, but they don't provide the DB9 serial cable to use it.

Item works fine. However be sure you need the Straight-through configuration. Some motherboards use cross-over wiring.
