The plug in adapter for the car was too big for the lighter area - so it was hard to put in but very hard to get out. About two weeks after I got it, the wired broke while I was trying to wiggle it out of the lighter and it is ruined. The fit is bad and overall the product is kind of big.

Bought this product to use in my SUV which has no audio jack for an MP3 player. Device worked well in my garage, but gets poor reception as I am driving. Cannot get reception at all downtown where there are lots of buildings, etc. Thought this would be better than the audio tape you can connect with, but not really and certainly more expensive. Audio quality is also not the best. Have to use batteries as connecting through cigarette lighter jack is impossible...prevented my gear shift from going up!

Luv this product! Works really well! Great value! It works great in my car, but in the house it was a little difficult to find a free channel to direct the music through. I think that a better user manual would also be helpful. My neighbor had one & he showed me how easy it was to work, prior to my purchase. Had he not shown me, I don't know that I would have found it quite as easy. He said he had to play around with it for a while before he figured it out. Otherwise, great product! Great value!

The transmitter works very good. I use when i travel out of town. when you live in south texas radio station are hard to come by. so i use it to play all my music from sony walkman makes it easier then changing out cds.

I bought two of these. My daughters take one in their car when they go and my boys take the other one. They are so easy to use. They all have mp3 players, but were making cds to take in the car, now they just plug in the mp3 player. They like it better because they don't have to choose what songs to put onto a cd, they can have all their music.So glad to see a product that works with something besides an ipod!

I think the hardest thing to deal with the adapter was getting it out of the package. After that, i plugged it into the cigarette lighter,plugged my MP3 to it, turned on the car stereo and WAAALLAAA, it worked. My music saved on the MP3 was playing thru my car stereo. Worked like a champ and have had NO problems-I use it 3 days a week going to work. I live in a rural area so maybe that makes a difference. Usually that works against me ;)

Good quality sound, It has usb connector for power or you can use batteries. Unable to use the usb for mp3 power is my only complaint. Sound Quality seems very close to cd. Just pick a unused or weak fm station, hook the supplied headphone cable to your mp3 player, crank up the volume and enjoy.

with two older Pontiacs w/o MP3 inputs, I bought one as a Christmas gift for my son and one for myself. Less than half the price of similar products locally, I wasn't expecting much. far exceeded expectations! Both work great, with just a bit of "radio noise" in quiet passages. NOT audiophile quality, but nice to listen to my Blackberry full of music in the car!

I thought it was dead in the box. There was not a quiet carrier being sent to the FM receiver like any other transmitter. Turns out, it does send out a carrier but the 3.5mm cable has to be plugged in to eliminate the white noise for some reason. The cable has to be the antenna where my other MP3 modulator does not need a cable attached. It plays a thumb drive so the antenna must be internal.

This unit was not purchased for automotive use. It was to be permanently used in a church sound system as a backup for the hard of hearing main transmitter. The problem is: the unit does not turn ON when power is supplied. The rear sound cabinet would have to be unlocked to start this unit every time. If there was a period of silence, the unit would shut OFF on its own. Plus there are a dozen sound operators. Clearly not a unit for professional use.

Even when I hot melt the button down, the unit still shuts OFF. This unit certainly is not going to be the cause of draining your battery dead.

The display has no use other than showing you the frequency it is set at, then it goes dark. It does remember the last setting, however.

Has plenty of presets, so it's easy to find a clear frequency. It doesn't "auto-search" when a frequency gets over-ridden, but I traveled from Indy to Virginia, and only had to change the frequency once!

I've owned the exact same model from Macally for about three years now, completely identical to the PortAuthority2 product sold here. This thing is so great I just bought three of these to back it up. Tested one out and they work exactly the same. Only downside is the retractable cable, I just bought a beefier cable with the money I saved on these. Has the best signal you can find, almost never gets drowned out by radio stations.

I bought this product to play my mp3 player through my car radio. I does that easily.
We recently had a dinner for 50 guests & I took my laptop, Port Auth.2 Mob. a Bose WaveRadio & a old stereo rcvr w/bookshelf spkrs to the affair.
I just plugged the Port Auth.2 Mob into the laptop Headphone jack, set it to 88.5 then set the Waveradio recvr to the same frequency & we had music all night (had all my music on a flash drive). It worked so well I'd recommend this to everyone.

Used to connect Garmin Nuvi 350 to FM radio. Setup required 2 power outlets, or power splitter - on for the FM xmtr, one to power Garmin. Strong signal, overpowers local FM broadcast station on same frequency. Multiple choices of frequencies. Adjusts easily for most power outlet configs. Retractible 3.5 mm audio cord jams if retracted quickly, but slowly works OK. White color may get dirty looking in time, and makes unit very visible in parked car requiring removal to avoid theft potential.
In summary - good audio for Audible - I have not tried with music, however.
Cable to Go sent device promptly, even after being warned it was "out of stock" but came in 5 days from order.

I liked the product. The web site needs work. It does not navigate easily and cannot change the parameters once one enters. As an example, I had great difficulty in getting the right number of items on my shopping car.

I have a BMW Z3 that only has a factory CD installed. Other MP3 converters I've tried get overpowered by other FM stations in the area where I live so I was stuck with AM/FM and the lousy factory CD in the car. The Port Authority2 Converter lets me play my MP3 in the car with absolutely NO problem. Until your converter I never knew how good the sound system in the car was, top up or top down.

Even though I had seen both good and bad reviews for this product, I tried to remain optimistic. Unfortunately, it did measure up to my modest expectations. The problem seems to be with the required volume settings. With the iPod volume set at 90% and the car radio volume set at 70%, the audible sound level is only moderate (equal to a 35% volume setting for regular radio playback). Yet even at that volume, distortion is quite noticeable. I tested a variety of volume combinations and radio station settings without improvement. I was able to find 2 stations that were well clear of local area broadcasts, so I feel I can also discount that potential conflict.

Read a review in the paper that said it was good. I've had other transmitters that were much more expensive and poorly constructed. This one works exactly as advertised. Make sure the jacks are plugged all the way in, find a frequency with no local station, and you are in business.
